In a small house in Shapetown lived a very blocky man. His name was Mr. Impede, and he loved getting in everyone’s way. Mr. Impede would block people from getting into grocery stores. And whenever Mr. Impede did enter the grocery store, he’d make sure to take extra long at the cash register. Mr. Impede would also cause massive traffic jams. Mr. Impede would even stop people from eating their favorite foods! Stopping and delaying was Mr. Impede’s hobby. Many people tried to change this aspect of Mr. Impede but he never changed. Because of this Mr. Impede only had a handful of friends.
Mr. Impede had a friend named Rob. Rob was a blue triangle who always wore blue clothing. Mr. Impede had another friend named Bob. Bob was a green rectangle who only wore blue clothing. These were Mr. Impede’s only friends as they were the only shapes in ALLLLLL of Shapetown who could tolerate him. Mr. Impede wanted to have more friends but he couldn’t because he always got in everyone’s way. Any how, Bob and Rob where both doctors at the Shapetown hospital, while Mr. Impede was a crossing guard.
One lovely morning Mr. Impede woke up at 9:00am, because he refused to wake up any later or any earlier. “It was like any other day,” Mr. Impede thought to himself. Mr. Impede walked to the kitchen and made a turkey-pesto sandwich, making sure to cut off the crust. Mr. Impede then walked over to his living room, where he was presented with many awards for “Best Crossing Guard.” Mr. Impede saw his dog Pearl try to go to the backyard, but before she could go, Mr. Impede stopped her and said “NO”. After this Mr. Impede said goodbye to his dog and walked outside.
Mr. Impede then walked over to his car and now one of his favorite parts of the day would begin. As you can tell, Mr. Impede loved delaying and stopping people from doing their duties. And what better way to do that than causing traffic. So Mr. Impede got in his car and set out for work, going straight past his bright yellow house and all of his neighbor’s houses. Mr. Impede headed for the highway.
Mr. Impede made sure to go as slowly as possible when he was on the highway (in order to impede other people’s speed) but then a trapezoid in a broken down, rusty car cut him off. This made Mr. Impede furious as all the other cars also started cutting him off. Now Mr. Impede couldn’t have fun. So out of anger he tried to go as fast as possible to get back in front of the line. As he was going 110mph Mr. Impede rolled down his windows to let the cold air blow in his face. When he was almost first in line, he rammed into another car while he yelled,
“AHHHHHHHHHH.”
Later that week Mr. Impede woke up in the hospital. He woke up to a nurse trying to talk to him, telling him he had broken his legs. This made Mr. Impede realize he couldn’t stop people or work as a crossing guard. This made Mr. Impede very sad.
Mr. Impede was now looking for a new hobby and job. All of his friends recommended that he try being a doctor. But Mr. Impede refused to be a doctor because as a doctor he had to help people and he couldn’t stop people from doing anything.
Mr. Impede became sad because now he had no one to hang out with and he couldn’t see his friends. Now, everyday, Mr. Impede woke up and made breakfast. He now lived a very lonely life and was tired. All Mr. Impede wanted to do was stop people from doing things but it seemed like that wasn’t an option anymore.
Mr.Impede became so lonely that he decided to go help his friends out at the hospital. He was very happy to see them, his first job at the hospital was to help the receptionist. The receptionist’s name was Dan and Mr. Impede’s job was to help Dan and the people waiting in line.
This was fun for Mr. Impede as he could see his friends and help people out, something he never knew he would like before. Helping people at the hospital became so fun for Mr. Impede that now it seemed like stopping people was the last thing Mr. Impede wanted to do.
So because he liked working at the hospital so much, Mr. Impede started working there full time in order to have fun and see his friends more often. This also had positive effects on Mr. Impede as now people liked him more and he was able to make more friends.
Now, Mr. Impede woke up at 6:00am every morning, ate breakfast, and got dressed. He no longer left his dog in his house all day. In fact now he let his dog go outside everyday. And when Mr. Impede had to go to work he asked a friend to drive him. Now Mr. Impede became more of a helping person, instead of a person who stopped others.
Mr. Impede decided to change his name to Helping Harris for his new found love of helping others.
