Two Days Ago…

July 18, 1861 Washington, D.C.

Two days ago, I sent my Commander Irvin McDowell to fight against the Confederates. I have a good feeling about this war, I think we’ll win this one. We really need to win this war. It will show that I am a powerful leader. Plus, I’ll get to help African Americans no longer become slaves. Or at least make sure they aren’t sold anymore. I know for a fact people will still treat them differently. It might be a while before they start being treated like normal people. Anyway, here’s more about the war against the Confederates.

We started the battle on July 16th, 1861 and right away I saw that they had more forces. However, I tried not to pay attention and just said to the soldiers “We can do this, remember, we are here to win”. I know that I have a lot of power, considering that I am the President, but I saw many of them doubting me even as they were saluting. I know that this war has been a hard one, but I know that even if we lose this battle, we will persevere and be victorious. If I am in the history books, I want to be known as an amazing leader who helped abolish slavery. After all, who doesn’t want to leave a legacy behind? Anyway, back to the battle. Irvin is planning to attack either the north or left side of the Confederate troops line, and have a few others try to distract them from the attack. I think his plan is genius, but we will see how it goes.

I think that this war will really help stop slavery and make sure that someone isn’t being treated less than someone else. Sometimes I doubt myself and think about calling off the war, but I realize that so many lives have already been lost and that I need to think about the people who died and make sure they didn’t die for nothing. I hope that this war will accomplish something because if it doesn’t I don’t know what else I can do to help. Wars normally prove that the side that won was correct and I don’t believe in having more slaves. I think it’s inhumane. Anyway, I know that even if we lose this war, we will not stop the battle. As president, I will make sure to speak out whenever I can. I have to go and strategize with McDowell now. I will write again soon.
