The Runaway Dog

Bark, Bark, Rouf, Rouf! My dog was yelling at the pigeons.

“Come on Teddy,” I said. “We have to get you to doggie day care. Come get in the car.” Finally he got in the car. He hates the car so he started whimpering. I rolled down the window and he started sniffing. He jumped out of th WINDOW!

“Teddy!” I yelled. He made a big leap like a ballerina in the air. I felt water dripping down my eyes. I heard Teddy’s feet going as fast as possible. Oh no! I just lost Teddy. What am I going to do? My body was shaking. My face was soaked with tears. I can’t just sit here all day crying.

I’m going to search for Teddy. First, I drove around for Teddy. I drove to the dog park. I drove to the school. I drove everywhere I could think of. I hung up signs. I asked everyone I knew. I woke up the next morning and I did my routine. I went on a walk to find Teddy but I still didn’t find him. I drove to find Teddy but I didn’t find him. I went everywhere I could think of. I asked everyone I could think of.

The next day I did more. I searched all around San Francisco. I went to the mall, but it was tempting to shop. I went to the dog park. I heard birds chirping and cats crying, but I didn’t hear Teddy. I climbed the trees, I walked the hills, but I didn’t find Teddy. I smelled hot dogs, I smelled dirt, but I didn’t find Teddy. It was 1:00, I had to think of more to do. My stomach grumbled, tears started to drip down my face. Will I ever find Teddy, I thought. Where are his favorite places? He likes the dog park so I looked there again. He wasn’t there. Then I looked at Benny’s hot dog place, but he wasn’t there. Then I thought deep. The Library! He loves the library with all the kids there. So I checked there but he was not there. Then I thought about the playground and went there. I digged in the bushes. I climbed the trees. Then I saw Teddy!

I yelled as he ran and I hugged him. I was so happy that tears of joy came to my eyes. “Teddy, let’s go get you something to eat. I love you so much. I will never lose you again.” I gave him something to eat. He ate it in one second. “Sorry, Teddy. You must have been hungry. Let’s go on another walk.”
