The Pastry Competition

Cristina was in her library which is in her room reading her favorite book. She was reading so fast it looked like she was just turning the pages. She could not stop reading. After a few minutes of reading the doorbell rang, Cristina did not know who it was but it was her job to answer the door. SHe stomped to the door with her gifts swinging back and forth and with an angry sigh. This was the worst time for whoever or whatever to come.

It was the mailman. Cristina looked through the envelopes and saw one was for her! She opened the letter hastily! It was an invitation to join a competition on who can make the best sweets and pastries. Cristaina jumped up and down and started to smile. When she told her mom she said, “Sorry Cristina, but you need to take care of the neighbors hamster.” She put her head down and walked to her room slowly.

The next day at school during recess time she was playing with her friend Janelle and told her the whole story. JAnelle found it sad she would not like that. Next, Cristina got an idea! “Janelle, how about you take care of Lily the hamster while I do the competition?” “Sorry Cristina but I am on vacation.” When Cristina got home she remembered next week is spring break that’s why everyone was going on vacation.  when the hamster came she said her while she ate a sugar cookie. After Lily the hamster finished her food she was still hungry. She saw the sugar cookie and jumped on Cristina’s hand and started munching it happily. Christina got an idea Lily could judge her on her food before she sets it out for the real judge to see.

It was finally the day of the competition she had thirty minutes to bake each thing she made. She gave them to Lily, some things Lily liked, and some things she did not. Cristina knew exactly what to make more of. Her time was up!  The judge came and first tasted Cristina’s neighbor sweets. She looks like she did not want to bake another nibble.  She went to the second person and tried theirs covered her mouth and could not bear to even look at theirs. Went to the third person and she tried one bite of the pastry. She liked it! Finally it was Cristina’s turn. The judge had a bite and another in a few more. she loved it! Cristina tried some and it was good. A mango flavor burst in your mouth. The creamy frosting is light on your tongue. It was just the right amount of chocolate on the sweets.

It was a few moments of Silence. “CRISTINA WON!” Christina’s eyes widened and she thought she was dreaming but she was not. She won! She kept her trophy in her reading Nook so she can see it whenever she likes!
