I’m at the park. I wander around for a bit then out of the corner of my eye I spy two ears and a pink little nose. it’s a kitten! Hi I’m Nora I am in third grade I live in San Francisco l go to school at Live Oak school. It is fun. I have a friend named Maya there. Like I said I’m at the park I can’t believe I just found the kitten  though it’s really late I think I’ll come back on the weekend and show mom. I go home the next morning…

“ What are we going to do over the weekend?  What do you want to do  Nora?” My mom asks.  

“Maybe Go to the park” l suited. “That sounds great Nora,” My mom says.

My mom drove me to school. First we had a morning meeting. I shared that we are going to the park. My friend Maya greeted me with a smile.   We are sitting down on a soft chair. I feel so happy because I can’t wait to tell her about the kitten during recess l can almost feel the wet grass on the field that we have at recess I whisper. oh sorry she replies.It is Reading time so we read Harry Potter Number four together and practiced recognizing clues to the mystery . Finally it was recess. I couldn’t wait to tell her more about the kitten

  “ There’s a kitten at the park and I’m trying to convince my mom to let me have it “ l tell her. “ that sounds hard “ said Maya

 “ yes it is “ I say slowly looking off into the distance maybe it will be hard I’m surprised I never thought of that I after I finish telling her I’ll about a kitten Isk do you “want to play tag” I say“ yeah” she answers  “tag you’re it” you never tell me you’re it it fine  “tag you’re it “.   At the at end of the day mom drove me straight to the park.

“ mom come over here right now,“ I yelled.

Mom Walks over slowly too too slowly  

“Mom come on you can go faster.” ” coming I’m coming”Mom says with a laugh “”look it’s a kitten” I comment. I am overjoyed when I see the kitten again. I’m so happy that it’s still there. tomorrow is the weekend.

Ummmmmm knocked over A water glass yeah yeah that’s exactly what happened. OK she said with a raised eyebrow then she walked out. That was a close one.

“ you know you can’t take it hunny

 l sighed l knew that would happen

I start to cry and I quickly hide my tears. I don’t see anything for a moment then I start pleading again it is no use. I pretend to have fun at the park smell salt from my tears

“Mom please” “no Nora” 

That made me frown and frown and frown.  All the way home and I begged and begged and bagged  but she wouldn’t budge. I would have to try something else.

But just in case I begged at home to.

“Mom pretty please” “Nora we’ve talked about begging” 

“Please mom” “Nora! You no what time I’m going to say!”

    “ Fine”

I should know how to convince my own mom but I don’t. I shouldn’t be afraid of her yelling at me but I am.

She says that no one deserves to be yelled at although sometimes she does herself. She Always apologizes immediately, but this time she doesn’t. I can tell she’s really mad at me, maybe it wasn’t a very good idea to beg her that much. I stopped begging immediately and ran up to my room.”  “Nora I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I’m sorry” she calls after me. I thought and thought and thought. A thought came to me. What if I trained it at the park and told her I was going to play or something? I can’t even pay for food yes that sounds yeah that like a good idea going to the park gut instead go to the park and train the kitten without mom noticing.

I rash down stairs flowing with excitement. I ask my mom to take me to the                park. She agrees but says she also needs an apology. I  give her my apology “sorry mom “ “ four” she urges me “begging”

I finished.           Just like yesterday I found the kitten in the same bushes as yesterday. I threw a treat I had got from the pet store  and said fetch she scrambled after the treat. I did it again and again and again.     I went home that day smiling.   The next day I did it again. And the day after that. And the day after that.  Finally she understood how to fetch. The next day I brought the kitten inside to finish potty training her. Just as I was carrying her inside he scrambled out of my arms and went to the bathroom in the house! Now mom is never going to let me keep her I scramble to clean it up so she doesn’t notice but it was already she had already walked in.  “ Nora she yelled what on earth is going on why is that kitten in our house“

 I potty trained her. I brought her home and showed mom what she could do. 

OK just make sure she doesn’t tear  up the house” “Does    that mean I can have her” “yes but you have to pay for the food” 

“ got it“ I replied wait I was kind of fun when the cat brought groceries in can’t do that again maybe tomorrow or something. I smiled and smiled and smiled  

“sure” good.    “ So what are you waiting for” Come on let’s go to the park and pick up the kitten
