The Emerald Forest

Once upon a time there was a girl named Elizabeth. She loved her life, her family, her dog and her world but even with that sometimes she wished for a life with more adventure…

On one regular Monday Elizabeth woke up she felt like going back to sleep. It was a Monday and Elizabeth hated Mondays the start of a week of school great.

But I knew I had to get up.  I still wasn’t happy about it. Groaning, I rolled off my bed.

I looked out my bedroom window. It was chilly Autumn with red orange and yellow leaves flying like butterflies.

I decided to put on a cropped, pink top with long sleeves, brushed my hair which took a while considering it was very, very long.

Then I got some chocolate cereal out of the pantry and started making breakfast with a few drops of milk. After she made the cereal she got some orange juice and poured it into three cups for Lydia for Emma and  Herself  okay she was ready for breakfast.

Then  I walked to the bus stop  for my school, thanked the driver and got on. I plopped on a seat, Ouch! There was a big thick book right where I decided to sit. I quickly took the book on my seat and started reading. I got to about page 3 when a big drop of water fell and it  felt wet and messy and I looked up at the roof of the bus. No leaks. I kept reading. Slowly the book started getting smaller and smaller. I quickly tried to grab it but as I did, my hand went through it! I was getting sucked up by the book! Soon my arms up to my elbows were magically within the book! I tried to get hold of something, anything! But the book was too strong.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I screamed as I fell down. “Ouch!” I thought when I fell on the ground hard. I looked around and I was surrounded by woods, the trees were beautiful shades of orange, red, and yellow. It must have been autumn. The sky looked like something you would see in a movie with fluffy bouncy clouds and a blue sky that looked like it had been painted.

A hand reached to hold mine. I looked up to see a kind face with beautiful brown eyes and straight shiny black hair tied for a high ponytail. She was wearing a cute pink top and some skinny jeans to match.

“Are you okay?” She said as she helped me up.

“Yeah, sure I am. Who are you? I asked.

“Who, me?” the girl said.

“Yup,” I replied

“Oh my name, My name  is Lillian,” she said shyly. “What’s yours?”

“I’m Elizabeth but you can call me Ellie,” I said.

“Okay I’ll call you Ellie. Now come let me bring you to the others,” she said.

“Others? What?” I asked but she was already running through the pathway. I tried sprinting after her but I couldn’t keep up, finally she stopped.

I huffed, “where are you, BRINGING ME?”

“Here,” said Lillian

There was a camping site with two tents and about five sleeping bags and of course and open fire. There were three girls waiting for us,  roasting s’mores.

“Oh hi you must be Elizabeth. I’m Crystal and this is Kate, Jewel and of course you’ve already met Lillian.”

For the rest of the night we laughed, chatted and made fast friends.

Crystal explained that her mom, the evil queen, had stolen the most important jewels she thought if she took all of them she would be powerful enough to rule the world, take over all the kingdoms. “So the council decided to bring one girl from each of the kingdoms to help. Lillian from the Ocean , Me, from Folio, Kate from Alliance, Jewel  from the underworld and finally you from earth.”

Jewel was an only child who lived in the land of spirits. She said it was very fun and they made sure the line never crossed. (She was half Vampire) She had black hair, reaching just below her shoulders, brown eyes and black skin with a loose sweater and a jumpsuit underneath. (I’ll have to ask her to help me with Halloween ?. )

Kate was the most adventurous one. She always took lead. Kate lived with her mom who was head of the unicorns. (yes really! Kate was also a  half unicorn!) Kate had hair that was straight and brown with purple streak down all the way at the edge, and a unicorn horn jutting in the middle that was one of the ways you could tell you know.(She was a unicorn.)

Crystal lives with her Mom, Dad, and younger brother, Jake. Crystal could bring snow to the touch of her hands making every season winter in her house. (Yes! Really!) Crystal had straight blonde hair that just went a teeny bit below her shoulders and icy blue eyes. And a blue dress.

Lillian was shy but could be quite competitive. Lillian lived with her mom, dad and younger brother, Sam. Her mom and her Dad lived in the ocean and were happy merfolk, which made her and her brother merfolk too! Lillian had a kind face with beautiful brown eyes and straight shiny black hair tied for a high ponytail. She wore a pink top and some skinny jeans to match.

First, to the fairy godmother!

We came to a small cottage with a stone led path and wildflowers, There were

butterflies and bees to guide us. There was a round door.  Crystal knocked on the door confidently.

As we waited Kate whispered, “Remember it’s THE fairy godmother so be polite.”

Finally a little old lady with lots of gray hair placed into a bun with kind eyes motioned  us to.

As we plonked on the sofa I asked, “so you are the fairy godmother right?”

“Yes, I am her godmother,” the lady chuckled, smiling, “but you can call me Georgie now, why are you in my cottage?”

“Well we were sort of wondering,” started Jewel .

“If we could have your wand, you see we need to use it to defeat the evil queen,”rushed out Kate.

The lady frowned, “why would you ever need my wand?” Sneaking a glance at the wand with its clean  white line and a sparkling glow as it moved. She looked at it as if she was worried we were about to snatch it.

“Please, we really need it and in return we will give you…”

I looked around and finally realized we had nothing to give.

Kate jumped up and said, “WE WILL  GIVE YOU PEACE,” like she was sure that would work and it did! The lady chuckled and placed it in my trembling hand. I could feel its power to my touch.

“Keep this well,” Georgie said. “And bring final peace to this world.”

As we were in the balloon I took a moment to suck in how it felt. It felt as if the whole wide world was behind us and we were at the top of it well so much for that, Lillian brought me back to reality…

“Next stop the Mad hatter!”

“Wait, THE mad hatter like Alice in wonderland, Cheshire Cat?” That was one of my favorites when I was young.

My friends eyed me suspiciously. “You’ve never met him?” they all exclaimed

“Nope,” I said.

We were at the hatters house and we were met by a bunny.

“Oh, time, time, time there’s just never enough,” and a run of tea spilled from his cup.

We all walked in the door.

It opened to reveal a cafe. With lots of bright colors, and everything felt as if it was upside down.

We sat on crazy chairs and waited to put in our request. Soon the mad hatter asked.

“Well what do we have here?” The mad hatter asked.

“Hello my name is Crystal and we would love to borrow your hat to defeat the bad witch.”

“What oh but my hat…”

“Please sir we really need it,” we pleaded him.

“Well,” the mad hatter thought, “ I guess you could borrow it but just for today.” He wagged his finger at us, we all giggled nervously.

Of course,  thank you so, so, so, much we gushed

What only today! It was already noon I nervously thought.

Lillian must have seen my face because she quickly got off her chair and said, “Oh look at the time sorry sir but we better get going.”

“Oh of course toodloo now.”

We all waved  and laughed goodbye.

And went on our way to the Evil Queen

We were welcomed by a Troll who nearly killed us with its giant sword.

“Who comes there?” he said.

We quickly hid behind the boundaries holding the drawbridge Kate and crystal distracted him with the hat, While me Lillian and Jewel rummaged through the back pack and found the wand. I passed the wand to Lillian who made a swift attempt to grab it and forced a spell that caused the big troll to fall fast asleep. We quickly shuffled past him and made our way to the evil queen’s throne room.

The queen had thick sleek black hair pulled back by a Tiara, an evil smile crossed her face and she cackled. “Well, well, well what do we have here she said I know what you want and you won’t get it.”

“No,” I said strongly. “You think you have more than anything  else in the world but really you don’t and you’ll never have you don’t have love.”

The witch was surprised by my answer for just enough time for Jewel to grab Georgie’s wand.

Poof! She used a spell that brung the Jewels right to us!

“Gotcha!” she said.

The Queen made a leap of faith to grab the wand she fell right on the floor.

“Ouch!” Jewel said.

Kate was ready. “Now!” she hollered.

Everyone held hands so we could transport ourselves back to the Emerald forest.

We all bumped down on the leafy ground I learned to love and then said our goodbyes

We left the forest all excited for our next adventure.

The End
