The Comic Store

Connell and his dad passed the comic store. It was the best comic store in New York City. Still, even if the comic store was good, the sky was dull and smelly. The comic I  wanted was called  Superman, The Last Thief. Connell is in third grade. He is also American and  his favorite food is pasta. His favorite sport is soccer.

“Dad, why won’t you let me buy that comic?” I said.

“I  won’t spend my money on a silly comic book that you want. It’s called Superman the last thief huh. No, but you can buy it yourself,” he said to me with a straight face.

Connell knew that was a good idea. The problem was that he didn’t have any money. He had no clue how to earn money. He had never done this before. His mind raced. He was so confused. He opened  the front door. Krak, it went. He stepped inside.

“Hey mom, can you give me money to buy me a comic book?” I said to mom, who was reading the newspaper on the sofa. She set the newspaper down and stared at me like I was the most interesting thing in the universe.

“No, but you can think about how to get the money to buy the comic book you want” she said to me.

I waited and waited and waited all night.

“Man, my mind is blank!” I whispered.

I was sad that I didn’t have an idea to get my comic book. I smelled fear in myself that I wouldn’t get an idea to get my comic book. In the morning it was time for school. I was going to ask my very good friend Tod how to get the comic book.

I got off my pajamas and got on my clothes. and then I was ready for school. “Hey Tod,” I said to my friend.

“Do you know how I’m supposed to get the money to get a comic book?” I asked my friend.

“How about you sell something in your house,” He told me.

“Yes! Yes! Yes! That’s it! I shouted.

That’s how I had to get the comic book! I needed to sell something! Why didn’t I think of it before? I thought.”

Tod, today you can come over to my house and we can read my new comic book!” I said.

“Sorry, I have to go to a painting class so I  can’t go over to your house today,” he said with a sad face.

My shoulders slumped down to the floor. I just wished he could come to my house to check out the comic. All I  have to do is get through the rest of the day. I kept on telling myself that. Until it was the end of the day!

“Yes!” I shouted. I rode home on my bicycle to my house on Hothead street.  When I got home I searched the house for something to sell. My mom said I  could sell something if the item was okay with her to sell. I couldn’t find anything until I searched the basement.

“Man, it’s gross down here!” I choked out.

I gagged when I  brushed off the dust in the basement.I shoveled through the junk in the basement. Then I found my old snow tube.

“There you are!” I said to my snow tube.

I showed mom the snow tube that I wanted to sell.

“Yes, you can sell that junky o’l snow tube,” She said with a lot of huffs and a sigh.

That same day I was setting up my stand to tell people that I had a snow tube for sale.

Man, it’s hard setting up a stand! I said.

I was glad when I finished my stand. I heard footsteps coming, thump, thump, thump. It was the kid next to the butcher! I was so excited when he bought my snow tube! Then, my face lit up! It had felt like I had won a trip to Disney World!!!!!! I ran home as fast as I could. I bounced, bounced, bounced up and down the stairs to my house.

“I got the money!” I shouted when I got inside my house.

“Congratulations!” said my dad.

“Good job!” said my  mom.

I was running, running, running,to get the comic book I wanted at the store. I saw the comic I wanted in the store window. I felt really happy to soon get the comic book I wanted.

“Can’t wait to get that comic book!” I whispered to myself.

I blasted into the comic store.

“Man, this place is crowded like crazy!” I said to myself.

I ran to get the comic book efore anybody else did! I ran to the cashier to buy my comic book. Once he gave it back to me I ran home to read my comic book! It was so good! The next day I showed  it to Tod. He also loved the comic book! I felt so good to have the deadly comic book!
