The Clowny Stunt Double

One day a man woke up and looked up at the ceiling in his room. He’d had a dream where he had his dream job: to be a STUNT DOUBLE! There was a poster that said, “The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.” After reading the poster, that’s exactly what he went to do. He went into the kitchen and ate Captain Crunch cereal. When he was done, he went onto his computer and looked up job tryouts for a stunt double. Now, let me tell you about this man. He is an adventurous, carefree, ambitious, sanguine, and overly confident person.

He found a job tryout ten minutes away from his apartment, so he packed all the money he had, water, and his telephone and went off. When he got to the tryouts, he went to the front desk and told them his name. They told him the price to tryout would be $1000. That was all the money he had, but he wanted the job so badly, so he paid the fee anyway. He went into the arena where they held the tryouts, got his name tag, and got into a straight line with the others. They called his name and when he was walking towards them, he thought he was very competent

The first thing he had to do was get punched in the face by someone to see how he would react, and then they asked him to do three different flips. After he was done, he waited outside of the arena. Someone came outside and called his name. He stood up and the man told him, “You have made it to the next tryout!”

He took his bike back home with excitement. When he got home, he sat up in his room thinking of other tricks and stunts he could pull off to get this job. He went to sleep and woke up the next morning with a bunch of energy. He forgot to eat breakfast and bolted to the second tryout on his bike. He got to the arena and they called him inside. They told him that today he was doing a fight scene. He met his scene partner and they started the scene. They were flipping each other on tables and flying in the air. The man’s scene partner pulled out a blade and accidentally cut the man’s stomach — not open but he cut it. The gash was gushing blood. A gentle hand caressed his cut. The people called the ambulance and they hastened him to the hospital. At the hospital, they told him that he has a broken nose, a giant cut on his stomach, and a fractured arm. He came back home with five stitches, a cast, and an eviction sign on his apartment door because he hadn’t paid his rent three times in a row. After he saw the paper on his door, he went inside, packed his stuff up, and left on his bike to go live at his parents’ house. On his way, he got a text from his doctor telling him he either had to give up on his big dream of becoming a stunt double or he had to wait four years until he could get back to making his dreams come true. As he arrived at his parents’ house, they welcomed him back home, he put his stuff away, and he told his parents about the decision he had to make. While eating the spaghetti and meatballs his mom made him for dinner, he made his decision to quit his dream. He thinks he is a less adventurous person but cares a lot about everything now. Surprisingly, a few weeks later, he became a full-time clown for kids’ birthday parties. Every time he is at a party, he illuminates the room.
