The Blue and Cozy House

I am from the blue and cozy house down an empty street,

with a weeping garden and a mountain of stairs.

I am from a home that has felt like family for the past 10 years,

including a cozy room and an even cozier bunk bed.

I am from a house filled with vibrant smells and creaking staircases,

to the relaxing sensation of cool air breezing past my face in the backyard

I am from a house filled with many toys and many clean ups,

to dozens of graceful next door neighbors who I feel like I’ve known all my life.

I am from rushing down my stairs every weekday morning,

to almost falling asleep on some days at school.

I am from a family that hopes for peace and joy all around the world,

to having new hopes and dreams waiting to be accomplished.

I am from many successful families full of love and the suffocating feeling of many hugs,

to having high hopes and ambitious dreams just waiting to be accomplished.

I am from mouth watering meals filled with vibrant flavors and smells on the weekend,

to the days of leftovers over filling in the fridge.

I am from being lifted out of my room by a amazing aroma that drags me all the way down to the kitchen,

and to inhale my mom’s delicious food, leaving a spotless plate.

I am from biting into mouth watering turkey and chicken on Christmas day,

to a Trader Joe’s dinner on lazy Saturday evenings.

I am from mountains of fruit sliced by my grandma welcoming me home from school every week day,

and to a family that suspensefully tears up wrapping paper on Christmas morning.

I am from early farmers market shopping on welcoming Saturday mornings,

to having all of the family over on Chinese New Years Eve, both close and distant.

I am from having the smell of hot glue fill my nostrils as I build my costume to wear on every Halloween,

to being woke up tired, and being rushed out of the house every weekday morning.

I am from having many pointless arguments with my brother,

to sharing a laugh with my entire family.

I am from being welcomed home by my enthusiastic dog, and most of all my loving family.

This is where I’m from.
