Sunset Engulfed in Misty Fog

I am from the Sunset being engulfed in misty fog

And feeling cold, wet air covering my face

I am from soft dog hair covering my leggings until they look white

And wondering how my dog still has so much hair

I am from horrible fires blazing through California during October

And covering the sky with a layer of smoke while avoiding to breathe it in

I am from warm sunny afternoons spent in the cold icy waters of Fox Island

And afterwards, my feet burning in the hot tub

I am from the Golden Gate Bridge standing strong over the bay

And earthquakes shaking my house while glasses crash to the ground

I am from click-clacking from the medals I got from gymnastics meets

From celebrating about winning board games while my brothers say I cheated

And cheering while the soccer ball hits the back of the goal

I am from panting while sprinting across the court, ready for a pass to shoot

and hear the sweet sound of

S

  W

       I

         S

H or maybe just wishing that would happen

I am from warm and gooey fondue on Christmas evening

And sneaking Toll House cookie dough while dreaming of the warm, gooey chocolate chips melting in my mouth

I am from mashing bananas, anxiously waiting for the banana bread to be ready for me to devour it

From sitting on the couch watching the Warriors and eating warm and greasy pizza

From walking to You See Sushi for the third time that month

and dreaming about devouring the delicious sushi

I am from rushing to get to sports games

While struggling to keep my eyes open while getting ready for them

I am from my brother taking 5 showers a day making us late to everything

From competitive games of Catan, Monopoly Deal, Hearts, and many others

Ending with heated fights about the rules

And squishing into hotel rooms while yelling about who has to sleep on the floor

This is where I am from
