If you’re not falling, you’re not learning. “Alpine Meadows Ski Resort is known for the longest snow season of any Lake Tahoe ski resort and powder that lingers for days. Alpine Meadows brings an exciting challenge to any level of skier or snowboarder. From easy-riding progression parks to wide-open bowls, Alpine Meadows has it all. And with more than 100 trails spread over 2,400 acres, mountain adventures and groomed runs await at every bump, jump and chairlift.”
I have loved skiing since day one. Why?, you might ask. I will always respond with a different story. I still remember when I was 4 years old when I was on a bunny hill and up the mountains I saw some people doing some crazy stuff. I asked my mom if I could do it and she responded with a “why do you want to do this?”. It was a sport that I did not love until 2016 when one of my ski instructors gave me a challenging run and I just skied straight down the mountain and overheard the instructor talking to my Mom that he’s never seen a kid my age do that. That’s when I felt so much pride that I could not describe how good I felt. Tahoe has always been the place where I skied because it has been the best skiing that I can get and love at the same time.
It can be really hard to ski… I have never been the best in the group, I’ve been in the middle or the best on the mountain. I have always been slower on steeper harder terrain but during the easier terrain I’m like a car on the road. I have crashed and fallen but never gave up at any point during my problems. I have injured myself so many times that it is like every fall never happened. I’ve battered my legs so bad and landed on my face. I flyover jumps like a bird and hit the ground like a plane hitting the ground as it’s landing. I spin and flip in the air as I don’t feel a lot of things for a minute but then the ground comes to my legs like dogs running towards their owner when they get home. I fall on jumps sometimes and even get scared to go over them but I have never seen a jump and started shivering. I will never give up.
Alpine Meadows is a good ski resort. Alpine Meadows has been my favorite ski resort in Lake Tahoe since I started going there in February 2019. I have improved so much there and got more skiing than anywhere else that I’ve gone to. I joined the ski team there in late 2019 and loved the place even more. In October 2019 it was rated the #3/4 best resort in Tahoe. The lift lines are short and really fast. If you are an intermediate or advanced skier/snowboarder then this is the place to go. The excellent terrain is groomed and powdery on powder days. I personally love this resort more than other places in the world. Some might say it is too old at alpine but I can agree with them. Most of the lifts at alpine are fixed grip lifts that take awhile but with the new Treeline cirque lift you can access the mountain faster and easier.
Why do people say that Skiing is too dangerous or that you might fall. I say that you should toughen up and do the best sport ever created. If you try it out and like then thank you very much. With a perspective I’m Benjamin Friedland.
