Skiing is Great

What people need to understand is that skiing is not just a “sport”. Well, it is a sport but skiing is really fun because there is a huge skiing culture and it can also be a way of living. Some of the countless pieces of evidence that  show skiing is a great culture, and way of living are that you can always get better, you can compete in all different types of competitions, and  no matter how skilled you are you can do almost any trick through just determination.

One of the reasons that skiing is so great is that you can always get better. Even professional skiers who do backflips and 720’s are still getting better every time they ski because they are doing a new run which will teach them at least a little thing about how to ski on that terrain or they’ll try a new jump which they like. Then they’ll do that type of jump more often. And why always being able to get better is so great is because once you’ve mastered something and then done it a lot it becomes boring. But in skiing you can always get better which creates endless fun. It also creates a hunger and theoretical competition to get better in the skiing culture. Think about life without challenges and obstacles. It would be pretty boring right? Always being able to get better is a huge part of why skiing is so great.

Another thing that makes skiing fun is that there are all kinds of different competitions. One reason that so many people love skiing is that there are so many different forms of it and  competitions show that. Some people love tricks and they can compete in freeride competitions while the people love speeding down hills can be on a ski team. Some people don’t even like the competitions but love being on a skiing team because ski teams don’t just compete. They also ride around with each other trying new techniques and tricks. Being able to compete in all different types of competitions and be on a team of skiers is another part of the joy of skiing.

One last reason skiing is awesome is because you can do all sorts of tricks. Many people think that only professional skiers can do super hard tricks but I think that anybody can learn any trick if they just commit. An example of this is when I was learning to do a 180. I was scared of falling. I didn’t commit to the turn because I was scared I would hurt myself. My mom was skiing with me and she told me we would leave the park if I didn’t commit. Once I heard that I commited. After a few tries I got a clean 180! In a different scenario though someone would want to learn a cool trick but they just wouldn’t commit and put in the time to learn it. Then they would never be able to do that trick. In other words anyone can do cool tricks if they put a lot of work into it and are persistent. Being able to do hard tricks by just hard work is great! For just that reason so many people love to go skiing.

These things about skiing are important because they make skiing interesting and diverse.  And as you can see the reasons that make skiing great are all very different from just being fun to being part of something bigger, the skiing world and culture.
