When Señor Exuberant woke up, he jumped out of bed and flew down the stairs to get his breakfast ready. “Today is gonna be great!” he exclaimed. Señor Exuberant started making a smoothie, and then he added some Pop Rocks. Most people would think that that is disgusting, but Señor Exuberant just thinks that it adds extra energy to his day. “Oh my god, I’m about to be late for work!” he said, even though he didn’t have to teach his first P.E. class for another hour and a half. He drove his bright red, convertible Camaro on empty roads to his school, just so he could drive faster and still get there at the same time. Obviously, he slowed down when he got to the block of his school, so he wouldn’t be breaking the law. He parked quickly and ran inside to start working out in the gym before his students got there. Señor Exuberant started by drinking his favorite drink, which was 5 Hour Energy. He then went straight in to his 100 jumping jacks, 25 pushups, and 50 sit ups
As his class came in, he already had several games planned. “Alright everybody! Let’s get going!” Before he could even finish his sentence, the entire room let out a groan. It was the first class of the day and most people still hadn’t woken up completely. But that definitely didn’t stop Señor Exuberant.
“Can’t you just be less… energetic? For one day can you just chill out?” asked a student.
“Well, uhhhh, not really. I’ve always been like this!” said Señor Exuberant energetically.
“But you’re literally always pushing us! Haven’t you ever been tired? I mean, this is hard in the morning,” said another kid.
“Hahahahaha!” Señor Exuberant let out a hearty laugh. “Of course I haven’t been tired!”
After a full day of teaching P.E., Señor Exuberant drove back home. He gave some thought to what his students were telling him. “I wonder what it’s like to be so tired?” he asked himself. “Well, maybe someday I’ll learn,” he said. Just as he was finishing his last sprint on his treadmill, he got a call from one his friends, Captain Stodgy. “Hello?” he asked when he answered.
“Hey, Señor Exuberant. It’s Captain Stodgy,” said Captain Stodgy lazily and boredly.
“Oh, hi there! How are you?”
“Eh, whatever. How are you?”
“I’m just fantastic! School was great today!”
“K.”
“So uh, why are you calling?”
“Oh. Right. Well I saw this add for a scuba class that I thought you would like.”
“Well I’m glad you called! You were right! I love scuba diving!”
“K.”
So when is it? I can’t wait to go!”
“It’s uhhhhhhhhh, tomorrow. From 12:00 to 4:00.”
“Oh perfect! I didn’t have any plans tomorrow except for running!”
“K.”
“Wait! Are you coming? You have to come. It’s gonna be so fun! You should come you’re gonna love it! Oh my god I can’t believe we are going scuba diving together! It’s gonna be soooooo FUN!”
“I didn’t even say yes.”
“Well you haven’t said no, either!”
“No.”
“Oh come on you have to come!”
“Call me tomorrow I’m going to bed. I might change my mind.”
“Yay! Wait you’re going to bed? It’s only midnight.”
“Yeah. That’s late. Bye.”
“Byeeeeeeeee!”
The next day, Señor Exuberant woke up extra early, at 3:00 in the morning just so he would be as ready as possible to go scuba diving. The first thing he did was call Captain Stodgy. Obviously Captain Stodgy was very angry because usually he doesn’t wake up until at least 11:00.
“So are you coming?” Señor Exuberant asked.
“Ugh, fine, but if I do this I don’t have to do anything else, ever,” replied Captain Stodgy.
“Yay! Can’t wait!” Señor Exuberant put on his wetsuit, put on goggles, and put his snorkel near the door so he would be completely ready. Now, he only had 9 hours to kill. So he started running on his treadmill. He didn’t stop until he had to make breakfast, which he then ate on the treadmill. Finally, he left his house to go to the beach. When he saw Captain Stodgy, he ran up to greet him. “Hi! How are you?” he asked
“Tired,” retorted Captain Stodgy.
“Hehe. Sorry I forgot how normal people sleep.”
“Yeah? Well maybe next time try to think and maybe calm down before you annoy anyone,” said Captain Stodgy.
That sunk in. “Can we just get this over with,” asked Captain Stodgy
“Uh, yeah. Sure.”
While they were swimming, Captain Stodgy couldn’t help but notice that Señor Exuberant wasn’t swimming way too fast or trying to dive way too deep. He got Señor Exuberant’s attention and pointed up so they could go up to the surface to talk.
“Are you ok?” he asked.
“Yeah I’m good,” replied Señor Exuberant
“If you were fine then you would have said that louder.”
“It’s just that what you said earlier felt too true. About me being annoying to other people.”
“Oh man I didn’t really mean that.”
“Yeah you did, and that’s fine. You’re right anyway, I should try to be more chill.”
“Yeah, that would be good.”
“Ok I’ll try.”
After they finished their swimming, Captain Stodgy asked Señor Exuberant if he wanted to go to lunch with him. “You know what? I think I’m gonna try something new.”
“What’s that?” asked Captain Stodgy.
“I think I’m gonna go home, and take a nap.”
