Ring Ring Ring! The phone rang and I saw my older sister run to the phone
Then, she put it down.
“I am going on a bike ride with Lily!” She yelled.
Lily is my big sister’s friend and my big sister, Ellie just got a new bike. I don’t have a bike but I really want one. I live in France in a town where there are a bunch of hills. Everybody has a bike. All the kids ride bikes to school. My name is Ellieana and people can’t call me Ellie for short because that is my sisters name. I think she gets everything. We live in a big house with my mom and dad but my dad goes on work trips a lot. Sometimes he brings stuff back from the places he goes to. Our house has a huge view and we can see almost the whole town from a tall balcony on the top floor of our house! Today was Saturday and we have the next week off, so I am super excited for the week.
today I walked in to the kitchen and asked my mom,
“Mom can I get a new bike? That way me and my friends can go on bike rides and you can have the whole house to yourself!”
“Ha ha nice try!” laughed my mom.
I knew she was just trying to say NO in a nice way. It made sense though
bikes cost money and Ellie got that bike for her birthday. I still think it is kind of unfair. I walked back into the living room as I heard the garage door open, then close. I thought, I could never get enough money to buy a bike on my own. It’s not like I could walk someone’s dog or mow someone’s lawn with a lawnmower. I was only eight years old!
I could ask for an allowance if I did chores around the house?
“Hey mom!” I yelled “ if I do chores around the house can I have two dollars or Four or five or six or sev…”
“Hold on there, you can have five” my mom told me.
“Oh,” I thought.
“That will never be enough to buy a bike, even if I do it for a week!”I whined.
I thought, I was never going to get a new bike. I sat back down in the living room, and you might be wondering why I want a new bike so much.Well…when I was little I had a bike I loved it. it was so much fun. I remember racing down hills and… hey! I had an idea. My old bike we still had it…suddenly my eyes lit up and I stopped slumping in my chair! I sprinted to the garage. I grabbed my old bike then… Screw Slam Click Click Grick! I had a bike! I ran upstairs and told my mom that I took the pedals off of my old bike!
“ Come to the garage, I have a new bike and no one helped me with it!”!
“Hurry, hurry, hurry!” I said!
“Coming,” she told me.
I felt like she was going in slow motion. My fingers twisted and turned as I waited for her to walk down the hall.
She looked a little annoyed. She followed me down the stairs, in to the hall, and through the garage door. There it was sitting in the corner. The bike!
We lived on a flat street so i thought maybe if my mom came with me I could try it out and that is exactly what i did. I put on my helmet, opened the garage door, I wheeled it outside, and got on. then two minutes later all of a sudden…BOOM! I fell off of my bike! That… had never happened before, my dad told me when I was little that it was going to happen sometime and then once I got good at biking it would stop but when Iwas little it didn’t happen. This was not what I expected, it was worse.
I was so sad that it was making me angry. When I was fixing my old bike I thought nothing at all could make it fail. I even raised the seat all the way up so that it wouldn’t be to short
“Maybe the bike wasn’t such a good idea” my mom thought.
Now I had no ideas, nothing to use. I would never have a bike. I guess it was indoor forts, drawing, walking, and driving for me. Suddenly I was NOT so excited for the week. I sat back down on the chair in the living room. It was like I was sitting in a room with black walls and no windows and all there was, was a boring black table and a boring black chair. I was so bored. I looked up at the ceiling and let out a sigh. Soon my sister walked into the room.
“ I might have an idea,” she told me.
“Go away,” I replied.
“Oh come on just listen, if you don’t like it we don’t have to do it” she pleaded
“Fine!” I decided.
“What if we try to find my old bike from the garage and you can ride it!” She concluded.
“Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!” I yelled!
“That is perfect,” I told her.
“So you like my suggestion” she laughed!
So we both raced to the garage! I went faster than Ellie which usually doesn’t happen. I was jumping so fast from stair to stair, it was like every stair was one mini trampoline! When we got to the garage we started looking. We looked behind every box and in every corner of the garage. I felt two things at the same time. I felt like, we are never gonna find it but then I thought, yes we are!
“Keep looking!” Ellie yelled.
“I am,” I yelled back.
Suddenly I saw something I had not seen before. it was a slide door all the way in the back. I opened it and there was Ellie’s old bike. For me it was like a piece of gold sitting in the dark, the bike! I wheeled it out this time I ran upstairs and told my mom that I had Ellie’s old bike. But I never told her it was Ellie’s idea. this time she followed me slowly while I took the stairs two at a time
“Hurry, come on!” I told her!
When we finally got in to the garage I showed her my…oldish new bike./
“ let me see you ride it!” She said.
And that is what I did. I strapped on my helmet this time I was sure it would work and I opened the garage door and rode outside two minutes later I was still riding, and I had not fallen off of my bike. The next day the phone rang, Ring Ring Ring! I saw my older sister Ellie, run to the phone. Then she put it down and she yelled to my mom
“I’m going on a bike ride with Lily,”
“I’m going also!” I yelled
This time I opened the garage door and stepped outside. We found her friend and did a few races, after that we went home. that might have been the funnest outing with Ellie ever!
That is the end!
