Rain on a Sidewalk

I am from a bustling city

Filled with ambition and hope

And a little fog as well

I am from seeing the water

But not going in it

I am from moving back and forth between houses

The big tree welcoming me home

I open the door, up the stairs

Hearing his paws like rain on a sidewalk, running down the hall

Seeing his tongue out and his bunny hop run

And my dog licking me when I get inside.

I am from the short walk to school

And the long walk back

I am from relishing learning

I am from delicious Rotis at my grandparent’s house.

Warm and delicious Pizza with my dad- waiting in suspense.

And eating the whole bag of popcorn, in under 10 minutes

I am from celebrating holidays in the midwest

And smelling its cold air every winter

I am from the world getting more advanced around me

And a new day every day

This is where I am from
