Nala’s Not So Interesting I Am From Poem

I am from a turquoise house. With dirty streets and gross skunks

And squatters and poopy things outside

I am from San Francisco on Selby Street

I am from rose’s in the garden that always get cut.

I am from, “Hey shorty!” And you are the best flute player but you need to try harder

And I am from wow your hair is so long! I am from another day another dollar

I am from you have to believe in yourself. To you have to speak up more

I am from you are chula and you are strong. And estás chula y chingona

And from you got this no need worry. I am from you are going to have your quinces right?

I am from, “There is food at the house!”

I am from if there is nothing to eat then eat cereal or a basic and not that flavorful sandwich

I am from take out almost every night. And from churros are the way to go

I am from enchiladas that smell like grease and oil. And there is always delicious and outstanding beans

And there is always someone cooking. And juicy homemade burgers!

And Jello on every Sunday. I am from pupusas that are always homemade

I am from traditional mexican food all da wayyy

I am from mouth-watering amazing tamales every Christmas, while sitting around laughing and opening presents

I am from Dia De Los Muertos is always celebrated and we always talk about of loved ones we have lost

And only my parents are cooking on Thanksgiving

And sending Birthday balloons to my dad on his birthday, at the Giants stadium

And doing that for my Aunt as well

And I know that you could do this

I am from ice cream should only be from Ben & Jerry’s

And from my dad and grandpa are the only ones allowed to do a BBQ on The 4th of July

This is where I am from
