Mother Earth

I am from the cold biting but nice breeze from Colorado that cools me down on hot summer days, and almost gives me frostbite on very cold days. I am from the loud honks that rock my house at night from cars in one of the most advancing cities in the world.

I am from the days of being on top of everything, feeling like I had accomplished one of my biggest goals, and the days that aren’t so good, where I feel like I am falling through an eternal abyss. I am from the big achievements that allow me to remember who I am, that keep me on my feet.

I am from the delicious smell of spicy chicken in my kitchen, that is pulling me as I driftly walk over to the table, that just arrived after 30 minutes of desperately, and patiently waiting. I am from the food that wants me to try it and keeps saying to me, “I am so delicious, come try me!!”

I am from the smoothing morning hot chocolate on cool breeze christmas mornings. I am from the celebration of the famous Indian gods that protect me and my family, famous people that have helped so many people, and family who protected us to get us here today and allowed us to be who we are.

I am from the good and bad compliments that shut me down and that give me hopes about. I am from the comments of: “Your hair is bad” or “You are so good at this or that”. I am from being able to some days, take those comments and forget about them and the days where that just doesn’t happen.

I am from the world that was once a beautiful place, but now has been badly hurt like a nasty gash from humanity. I am from that beautiful place that humans destroyed, and now is trying to rebuild, and help Mother Nature regain her strength. I am from the worst of Covid-19 and saw Mother Nature giving us a sign, but us being so blind, we can’t see it. I am from the people that help everyday with getting vaccines out to people so they can stay protected from the virus.
