Part of the 3rd Grade East She Persisted Series
Introduction
Once upon a time there was a girl who was afraid because her teachers told her that her grades were not good enough.
Her name was Michelle Obama.
Early Years
She skipped second grade, learned piano after school, and she lived on the South side of Chicago. She ate pizza once or twice a year. They watched television for an hour each day.
Life as an Adult
Michelle Obama was a lawyer when she became an adult. Michelle always stood up for herself by not letting people tell her what to do. As an adult she fell in love with Barack Obama.
Accomplishments
She was the first black woman to go to the White House. She hula hooped 142 times before she stopped.
Conclusion
Her teachers told her she should not aim too high because her grades were not that good. Some people said she would never achieve something big because she was just a black girl from the South side of Chicago. But she chose to listen to her parents and she persisted! Anything is possible!
“Always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals.”
