Peoples spiritual and scientific beliefs influence their views on extraterrestrial life.

Imagine you’re in New York, a massive city with an enormous population. You’re sitting on your balcony from your apartment in summer. The bright sun gives you a warm feeling, and you get washed down by the cool breeze. Suddenly, the sky darkens. The sudden breeze now feels like a tornado. A giant unidentified object towers over you. Extraterrestrial life come out of this object. But what is this? What if this really DID happen? What would you think? People’s spiritual and scientific beliefs influence their views on extraterrestrial life.  Suddenly, your stomach lurches and you black out.

Different people believe different things. Some people think that life outside Earth is fake. It’s not possible that there could be anything outside our existence, nothing but stars and planets.

Other people claim that the Earth is flat. There’s an interesting site called “Is the World Flat?” and their arguments for a flat Earth are very good. It’s actually hard to argue with them. Others’ feedback proves “there’s nothing out there,” a very interesting claim. But is that true? Some of us think that aliens will be insanely smart and look just like humans. Some think they will be, well, aliens.

But what are aliens? What does the word mean? Is it, as I said before, like an alien? Or a human? It’s certainly a question that I would like an answer for. I personally know about this topic and care about it because I grew up with it. My grandpa works for the Smithsonian, and he’s brought me incredible objects that I would never have thought I would have the chance to touch or feel. My grandfather brought me a piece of glass from the biggest telescope in the world and a huge map of the solar system. I also know about religion and scientific beliefs. Some religions make you believe in some sort of g-d, but scientists think that there IS the possibility of extratorrestial life. I, personally, am leaning toward the scientific perspective, but that’s just my view.

On the contrary, some people believe that extraterrestrial life is trying to communicate with us. This may sound crazy, but some people’s jobs are to listen to radioactive activity in space. In the movie, “Arrival,” a woman listens to all the noises in space and supposedly gets a signal by aliens to make a giant machine, and then flies through space to see them. I recommend the movie. But what about other people? Yes, some people ponder that maybe aliens will come to us. I don’t necessarily think this true, but it might be. That might be scary for some. I personally think that we’re going to have to go and find them. I’ll talk about that later. And some think that staying on Earth and sticking here is a bad option, that we need to go out there, and find them.

How can it be possible to travel to where there may be extraterrestrial life? How can we go somewhere, even just to the closest star, which is around a couple of LIGHT years away, and have the people on board return to Earth alive? A lot of scientists are trying to unravel this mystery because it is interesting and not something to be ignored. Scientists are trying to try to figure out how to make a material to reach life beyond Earth. A while ago, a man heard some radioactive activity 900 light years away, and quickly sent a radioactive signal back. There was no response.

People think differently about if extraterrestrial life comes, how we should react. There are some facts about space and time, and how strange and mysterious it is. An unidentified object went through the sun, and came out in the same condition as it left. The point is, the outside world is scary, in space and on Earth. But what happens, if those aliens, as some call them, came to earth? Will the Earth be even MORE scary? Would there be a giant war? Or would they be nice to us? I asked my friend this and this is what he grinned and told me: “There would be a world domination!” I asked him to go deeper into that. “The aliens will take over this world and humans will be slaves!”

This is one of the things that people have said. They will kill us, and take over the world. But what if they help us? I did some research into this. A site, called Space.com, said that it would be a major catastrophe, and social media will completely go insane and warn everybody into a mass panic. The SETI, (search for extraterrestrial information) is trying to figure this out. Do you think Aliens would help is? Give us their native supplies? Learn their language? Maybe befriend us? Have a weapon that could destroy the entire earth?

In the end, extraterrestrial life, is NOT a small topic. I encourage you to go read more information about it. Please, learn about this bold, strange wonder.

So, let’s now go back. You had just blacked out. You’re now wide awake. You stare into the floating object. You now wonder differently though. You now think, ‘Who would believe this? Scientists? How should I react?’ Your palms are sweaty from thinking so hard. You look straight at the object. Now, think.
