“Happy Birthday, Best Friend!”
“Thanks, Kim,” the man says to his friend as he looks at her smiling.
“S-so do y-you want to e-eat the c-cake?” Kim says, almost glitching like a robot.
The man taps his temple, where there is a little dot that is on the side of his head, and he sees a warning for the battery being low. He looks down at his counter and sees a metal case with an eye on it. He opens the case and sees eye drops. The man then picks up the eye drops and puts them in his eyes.
“DING! Battery 100 percent.”
“Phew, we should be good to go. Kim, are you alright?” The man says.
“I am, would you like to maybe do some karaoke for your birthday like we always do?” Kim says, very eager to hear him say yes.
“I’d love that,” the man says, smiling almost from cheek to cheek.
Hours go by of them singing and singing. They’re having a blast together and it’s just the “two of them”.
WHAM.
“Shoot!” His heart sinks to his stomach as he realises that he crushed the box that had all of the eye drops. The man runs out of the door to get more of these eye drops due to his lack in supply. He sprints to the nearest Friend center and sees a long line around the block that he is not eager to wait in.
“Hey, Kim, is there a Friend center near me?” The man said rushing to find out where he could get his next supply of the eyedrops.
“There’s one half a mile from here. Follow me!” Kim says excitedly as she runs off into the dark alleyway. As the man is rushing down to find the Friend center, the alleyway gets darker and darker until finally he finds the machine. It says Friend with its bright orange and gold highlighted colors, and he quickly opens his wallet to pay in the machine when he notices a man walking towards him murmuring. At first he doesn’t notice it, but then he comes closer and he can hear him saying the words, “F-friend, I need f-friend,” he says as he approaches the man.
He notices that his little dot on his head is completely red, and the man looks crazy.
“NO, GET AWAY FROM ME,” the man says as he holds his box of eyedrops in his hand. He decides to punch the man and run away from him as quickly as he can.
‘BAM! The punch makes a mark on the strange man’s face. The strange man quickly gets up and shoves the skinny man into the vending machine, and he falls to the ground as glass shards break off from the machine. As the skinny man is almost unable to move on the ground, he sees the strange man get a shard of glass and bring it close to his face.
“No, please don’t! I beg you, please don’t,” he says, worrying for his life. He sees his friends and Kim waving at him in the background and telling him goodbye as they know that he is most likely near death. The strange man then gets the shard of glass and cuts out the dot that is in his head. As the skinny man wenches in pain, he sees a system overload warning from his eyes and knows that he will not see his best friend again. The strange man takes out the dot from his head and then walks away as the lonely man sees the crimson red color of his blood seep out of his head. He realizes that the end is on its way.
The end.
