From…

I am from….

Gray house with green hedges and  mossy marble stairs.

Light pink room, warm brown wood floors, silky pillows and soft feathery bed

Presidio view, window seats, trees and occasional fog

Moss mingled with ocean salt and flowers, scented all over my neighborhood

Dog sitting with head tilted licking my feet under the table

Desk covered in papers, drawing, writing, story plots and colored pencils lighted by one dusty lamp

Brothers rooms, terrible music, unplanned pillow fights and random laughs coming from other rooms

Waking up with the fog horn and hearing the birds chirp through my bright window as my eyes adjust to the sun

Overarching statues, endless pale lakes and whimsical stone peeking through moss

Little black fuzzy dog, sitting like a teddy bear with vast dark glittering eyes

Chestnut treet five minutes away, shopping and rushing home eager to open packages

Breakfast with the same jazz tune repeating as I eat toast with my eyes closed because I’m to tired to open them

Walking into school breathing in the rustle of pencils and pens and the bustling as my friends rush over to greet me

I am from…..

Wait, you have a twin?

Dragon Well, mouthwatering noodles, heavy and thin

Crab on hristmas, hard shells with coral cracks deep into the shells like a painting all around

Linguine and clams, smelling up the kitchen made by my brother

Starbucks with friends, Caramel Frappuccino dripping down the sides into the cold blended ice

Loving Cup on Union, thick chocolate drops and light dewy caramel

Boba near school, tapioca chewy and sweet making me full for the rest of the day

Toast and butter, slide across the bread and crunch in your mouth crispy

Grandmas crunchy best cookies and pecan pie, that you can smell from the dining room

Baked goods, sugar glazed and shiny on top

Fillmore akeshop after church sneaking a bite or two from unsuspecting family

Gathering of family members dogs, random ears and tails tickling your leg for a treat

Belgium waffles, biting into them while they are still a little raw and sugar exploding into a soft, Chewy and sweet bite

I am from…..

Church on Sundays, cookies and coffee making me smell it for hours

Random relative visits, giving me big warm heavy perfumed hugs

Tahoe in the winter, snow falling outside feeling cozy and warm with my hot chocolate

Ski races, thundering down the hill lighting fast, crowd screaming but I can’t hear them

Soccer games, my parents waving at me from the other side of the field as my cleats kick the

Ball way up high and turf sprays

Visiting the corner store, loading up on candy while my mouth is watering with my Nono

Big batches of steaming pasta, everynight, everyday and all the time.

Hanging out on hestnut, shopping and making jokes

Best friends running around the lake, shaking and laughing from the exhilarating cold water in the summer

Hopping up on water skis and screaming as loud as I can with friends on inner tubes, zipping Around the lake

Christmas list posted, presents under the tree and the smells of fresh pine and dust from Ornaments that were in the closet for a bit to long

Brothers and I smiling around the T.V. watching comedies, Our stomachs aching from laughing too hard

Late night drives to tahoe, waiting for one of us to scream, “Home!”

Running until my legs ache and my arms are numb with a smile on my face

Cool dark night runs, wind whipping my pony tail and harsh breath in my ears

Dewy post-rain days when I stay inside but open every window to hear all the rain trickle down the biggest hill

Wandering around the house under a dark star filled sky with every door shut and every light out

Flicking off the light late at night as I watch the cars pass by and listen to the city wind down

This is where I am from….
