Ben There.

I am from foggy cold mornings,

from my dog jumping on my bed to wake me up,

and from refreshing walks through parks and over hills.

I am from people saying “Bogaty boyzzzz”

from my sister telling me to relax,

and from coaches encouraging me to work harder.

I am from long uncomfortable plane flights back home,

and seats that you have to squeeze into.

I am from sports that seem to last for weeks,

And the great relief for your body after a hard workout.

I am from ice cream that makes you shiver with satisfaction and chill,

from ramen that warms you from the inside,

from Friday night pizza,

and from hot, gooey chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven.

I am from my championship games stolen by the pandemic,

hoping to see friends in school again,

and from wishing the vaccine was available to all.

I am from refreshing swims in the Long Island Sound,

Frozen skimboarding in the Pacific Ocean,

and the scenic difference between sky scraping city buildings,

to small houses on a vast open land.

This is where I am from.
