Have you ever felt bored, had a hard day, felt like you have no real friends? Well, gueIss what? I have a perfect solution for your problem: become a nerd. Being a nerd, which means having a true passion, will help you in life. This passion is what I call the best type of friendship. This passion is your imaginary friend, who will always be there for you. This friend is not able to talk so you can tell it anything and it will never get angry at you. This friend will keep you out of trouble and make sure you are never bored.
Being a nerd can make you happier. When you have a hard time and someone might have died or you moved away from your BFF, you always need someone or something to cheer you up. Your imaginary friend, the nerd, is going to cheer you up. Its magical super powers will keep you busy and on task so your mind can be free of worries. You can focus on your passion and relax yourself. Being calm and relaxed will make you happier. For example my mom, when she’s sad she just cuddles under the covers and reads poetry and soon she feels better. My Dad just drinks coffee and after one sip his day is brightened after a whole cup he is a different man. What I do is I just play with different objects and try to recreate the objects with the materials that I have at home. I love to know how things are made and the processes of the making.
Being a nerd can keep you engaged. When you are done with your school work or on a weekend and you have nothing to do, think to yourself. “What do I love or what is my passion?” Let’s say, you know a lot about cats, you have a pet cat, and all you ever want to talk about is cats…you might come to the conclusion that you are a cat nerd. So, go ahead, look up an image of a cat, play with your cat or read about cats. And then ask yourself, how do you feel now? My guess is that you feel excited.
Being a nerd is often seen as a negative thing. Admit it, you probably thought that before you read this essay. I hope that now you will consider that being a nerd is a great way to keep yourself happy and engaged. Your nerdiness is your passion, which can be your best friend when you need it most. I am sending you off with five very important words: ‘let your nerdy side shine!’
