Another Emmett Till

“Mamie!’” I call out, my mothers name.

I long to see her one last time.

Tears slowly roll down my face, as the pistol swings back for another blow.

“Mamie Please!” I cry out once more, I long to hear her comforting voice.

The two men berate me with profanities everytime I try to move.

I should have listened to my mother’s warning but now I’m good as dead.

Bang! Was the noise the gunshot made, the sound howling through the night.

The neighbors saw, and the neighbors knew that a young boy died tonight.
