A Variety of Foods

I am from a variety of foods in my house.

I am from a freeze-dried rabbit.

We feed our cat that makes me gag.

I am from eating frozen mango all the time because it tastes  like healthy ice cream.

I am from my dad getting mad at me for eating so many snacks when I get home, that I don’t have an appetite for the delicious and well thought dinners he makes us.

I am from the frustrated looks on my parents face when our cat tries to knock over their coffee.

I am from my mouth burning from trying spicy food for the tenth time and still not liking it.

I am from hugging my parents goodbye at the door as they go out for dinner and I stay home alone, turn the TV volume up and eat Mac n’ Cheese till they get back.

I am from, refusing to eat the bland tasting  lettuce unless there’s dessert involved.

I am from loving to cook and bake even though I still can’t seem to make the perfect cupcake.

I am from my parents’ annoyed looks when I’ve made a mess in the kitchen.

I am from a family who doesn’t do many things together. I am from coming home and flopping down on the couch, exhausted from the day. I am from, rarely eating dinner together because my mom doesn’t come home till late.

I am from the time when my dad wakes me up at 6:15 coming way too early. I am from, driving across town in slow, annoying traffic to get to school by 7:30. I am from looking for parking for five minutes and then being disappointed when our parking spot involves hills. I am from coming home from school and finishing my homework as fast as I can so that I can relax till dinner. I am from, the annoyed expression on my dad’s face when I say I don’t know what I want for dinner. I am from procrastinating for hours when it’s time to go to bed. I am from falling asleep and waking up an hour later frustrated     because the cat  found the noisiest object in the house and started playing with it. I am from, waking up the next morning and the cycle starting all over again.

I am from living in a cozy two family apartment in the foggy outer sunset.

Our house is small with only two bedrooms, one kitchen, one living room, and one very small bathroom that’s always crowded.

I am from a very cozy room, with three walls painted turquoise and one wall covered in beach wallpaper.

I am from sleeping in a loft bed with two shelves and a desk underneath.

I am from living next to the N-Judah stop so that when the train goes by it makes a loud rattling sound and the house shakes a little bit.

I am from having hope that we will soon have a new president and be able to stop climate change.

I am from, hoping  for myself to get good scores on all my future tests, midterms, and report cards.

This is where I am from.
