Captain Capricious woke up happy in the morning but knew his mood would soon change. Captain Capricious went to get some Capri Sun, his favorite drink ever, from his refrigerator. When the door opened Captain Capricious saw something terrible; there was no Capri Sun. Captain Capricious remembered last night that his neighbor, Little Ms. Copious took some, but he was confused because Ms. Copious always had an abundance of things for herself. Captain Capricious’s inconsistent mood quickly changed from happy to angry. He went out of his house and pounded on Ms. Copious’s door.
When she opened the door he shouted, “Why did you take my last Capri Sun pouch, you little witch!?”
When he closed the door Ms. Copious said, “Man, his mood is really erratic.”
Captain Capricious then went to the grocery store to get more Capri Sun. On his way there his inconsistent mood changed frequently. When he got to the store many people avoided him because of his unstable moods. Captain Capricious ignored them and went straight to the drinks aisle. He got ten packs of Capri Sun. Captain Capricious’s random mood went from angry to happy at the sight of that many packs of Capri Sun. He went to the checkout; there he saw the second horrendous thing that morning. His happy mood quickly changed to terror as he saw the price of all the Capri Sun. It was 100 dollars!!! He paid for it but grumbled about how it needed to be on sale.
On his way back to his house Captain Capricious ran into his friend Officer Perturb. Officer Perturb made everyone around him unsettled except for Captain Capricious. This was because Officer Perturb’s face was annoying, strange, and irritating.
Perturb asked Capricious, “I was wondering if you could send my makeup line over to Asia? After all, you are the best captain around.”
Captain Capricious responded with, “Sure, out of curiosity what does the makeup do?”
“It obviously makes people unsettling.”
“How much money am I going to get?”
“Five thousand. Two thousand five hundred now and the rest after you come back,” Perturb said ending the conversation. Capricious’s inconsistent mood quickly changed to pleased and he went to tell his crew the good news.
Captain Capricious sent a message telling everyone on his crew to meet at his ship, the Jolly Mean Capri Sun. Everyone on his crew got there except for Fear who never wanted to get on the ship. Captain Capricious sent his First Mate Angry to fetch Fear. They got back as soon as the Jolly Mean Capri Sun was about to hit the waves. Angry dragged Fear onto the ship and threw him to the ground giving him a bucket and mop and telling him if he didn’t wipe the deck he would feed him to the sharks. While Angry patrolled the deck yelling at people Captain Capricious steered the ship across the Pacific, changing his mood constantly.
Three days passed while the Jolly Mean Capri Sun was sailing the sea. Nothing interesting happened during the three days except when Boredom and Mad got into a scuffle. It settled when Capricious’s mood darkened and he threatened to make Boredom walk the plank.
While Capricious was being fickle, Surprise, who was in the Crow’s Nest, shouted out, “I see clouds, great big grey clouds; can you believe it? Great big clouds!?”
Capricious who was just happy with a great big smile, darkened. “AHHHHHHHHHHHH why is a storm coming now, why now. WHAAAAAAAAAA!”
Capricious left to go to his room, sobbing. Thirty minutes later Capricious came out of his hiding and went to the bow of the deck, “My men, we have braved the storms before and we can brave them again.”
A chant ran through some of the sailors, “The storm is weak. The storm is weak.” While others like Fear and Frantic ran around screaming their heads off.
When the Jolly Mean Capri Sun hit the crashing waves, Captain Capricious changed moods so frequently one second you could have seen him spit at the sea, the next he rejoiced that the waves were coming. The first mate, Mad, saw Capricious’s mood swings and went over to him. “You think you can be captain with your mood swings!?” Mad slapped him straight while he was also bellowing at him.
Captain Capricious’s eyes, which were blurry from the slaps, saw the waves with a new sense. Captain saw his crew, a mess of people running in terror and trying to fight the oncoming wave. Capricious knew he had to maintain order but he couldn’t do it with his random moods. Capricious had to become a new person to survive and he knew who to become. “From now on you will know me as Captain Consistent,” Capricious now Consistent said to his crew. Consistent told his crew to work together and get them out of the choppy water. It worked and they soon landed on shore. Captain Consistent contacted Officer Perturb’s consultant to give him the boxes of makeup.
When Consistent got back he collected the money from Perturb and paid off his crew. He went to bed that night and in the morning he realized he had been scammed by Perturb. Instead of storming to Perturb’s house and yelling at him like he used to do he took a Capri Sun pouch and walked to Perturb’s house. When he got there Captain Consistent knocked on the door. Perturb opened it and Consistent walked straight in without saying a word. He coolly asked for the money; Perturb was so confused he just gave the money to Consistent. From then on Consistent was just chill. He never had any mood swings, and his temperament was always the same. Consistent never yelled at his neighbor; instead, he just was the same, over and over and over.
