My Detailed I Am From Poem, by Everett Baker

I am from the beautiful San Francisco and the greenest forest.

I am from sky high buildings and the hilliest hills.

I am from outrageously massive gardens and nature as my front yard.

I am from behind the back crossovers taking me up to the top and shredding

down slopes that take me down low.

I am from changing the world and caring for people in need.

I am from stacking brick by brick into mountain tall sculptures.

I am from doughy doughnuts, juicy burgers

and all the American food you can think of.

I am from non-sour Sour Patch Kids, Twizzlers and no ice fountain drinks.

I am from organic foods and Delicious Texas BBQ

I am from hanging up shiny ornaments on our bushy Christmas tree

and family vacations to far away places.

I am from listening to booming music and making it too.

I am bowing my head to family prayers.

I am from having terribly bad jokes and high fives

I am from taking good care of kids much smaller than me

and failing to trash talk on the court.

I am from a bold backwards hat and faded torn up vans.

I am from fashion and style and “it’s all about the shoes”

I am from kindness and problem solving

I am from masking up every single day and family history.

I am from having sweaty hands because i’m hardcore gaming

and constant binge watching.

I am from COVID making me spend more time with my

family and plants dying right when we get them.

This is where I’m from.
