The House
“Yes I will tell you a story” I say. “My name is Odette……” I was only 13 at the time. I had a mother, Marie, a father, Louis, and a baby brother, Henri, who was only 3 at the time. It was a late afternoon in July. The sun burned on my face as I walked like a sack of potatoes. More like a sack of frites now that I think about it. I was smacked in the face by the door which snapped me to my consciousness of anything other than heat.
“Soeur!”or “Sister!” Henri exclaimed. My mother picked him up and led me to the table where fresh vichyssoise layed. I was starving—and hot so I gobbled it up EXTREMELY fast.
That night I had a dream that I could control, read, and wipe minds. There was a whole new world where everyone could do that. And then I heard someone saying
“You can, and it will protect you, or not!” And then I heard laughter, but the laughing creepy guy in my dream seemed familiar, like I had seen him before. That laugh still haunts me to this day. I woke up, and felt that I couldn’t move, so I waited and waited, and finally I hopped out of bed and went to my curtains. I opened them, darkness filled the view. So I then went to check the grandfather clock, exactly 3:00 AM. I went to my parents room trembling. I woke them both up and said I was hungry and
I wanted it to be morning.
“Go back to bed,” my father moaned. So I went. I would have stayed if I knew that it would be my last night with my parents.
I thought back on the creepy man in my dream, “When did I see him? Who is he? He can’t be anyone I know, they’re all nice!” Before I knew it the sun came up and it was finally morning.
My parents asked me,“Why did you wake up last night?”
“Bad dream” I replied. I would have told them everything if I knew what would happen, and if I knew I would never see them again. They could have prepared me—anyhow Henri greeted me with his usual
“Yeeka!” I replied with “Meeka!” As usual. My mother prepared some rolls as my father played with Henri, and I helped butter the rolls to try to get my mind off of the dream—which didn’t work. We were a happy family, that would soon never be the same. I ate those rolls, and gave my soft bits to Henri. I excused myself to get water from the well, unlike the people in Paris who could get it from a tap, but now we have running water! I started to wash the dishes, one of them didn’t survive that washing because of my thoughts, I’m guessing you know what those are about.
Let’s describe my last day here in as much detail as I can remember. I cleaned the broken pieces of china up and tried to hide them from my mother, who would be very upset. But of course she figured out and screamed,
“You’re never going to find a husband if you can’t clean the dishes properly—and if you break them!” I started to think, what if I don’t find a husband? I will never find one! I got nervous and ran up to my room and stared out the window mindlessly. But then I felt bad for running off and went back downstairs. Mother was still upset but she calmed down, so she took me out. We went shopping for a new dish, she let me pick it. So I picked a white one with a beautiful royal blue swirled design. It was 2 francs. Mother also bought a new skirt for me. Which was 3 francs. It was maroon and flowy, it matched the one my mother had.
We came home to my father trying to read the recipe book.
“What in the world are you doing!” Mother exclaimed.
“I thought I would try to try working in the kitchen!” Everyone laughed. Henri tried to help mother with her Quiche. In fact we all helped! Usually I would help and sometimes Henri would play around with the dough, but father never cooked. His section of the quiche looked crooked and filling was leaking, Henri’s quiche was just a ball because he couldn’t really do anything. Mother’s side of the quiche was so perfect it almost looked unreal. My side was deliciously imperfect but at least it was better than father’s.
We sat at the dinner table and ate the warm quiche–more like the burning hot quiche now that I think about it. Ah yes you probably want to get to the exciting part. Well, after we ate I got the water from the well, heated it up, and bathed myself and Henri.
“AAAH!” Henri shrieked as I accidentally poured some of the very hot water on his leg.
“Shh, Shh,” I said, as I messed up the whole cabinet looking for a piece of cloth that I could wet to sooth the burn. Don’t worry I found one and I quickly went to the well and got a bit of water, just enough to cover the bandage in cold clearness.
“Soeur,”
“Yes”
“Aie!”
“Henri I know it stings but it will feel better soon, D’accord?”
“D’accord,” I knew this was a job for mother when the blood from the wound went through the bandage and seeped to my hand.
“Mother!” I screamed.
“Oui, oui! What’s wrong?” and then she looked down. “Young lady, what have you done?”
I didn’t even reply, I was only thinking about how she could’ve ran up 2 flights of stairs and sprinted across the hallway to the bathroom–In a dress!
“Odette!”
“Yes mother,”
“The wound will soon become infected if we don’t get the proper cleaning tools.” she said. “I need you to rush to the plaza and get a proper bandage, very clean water and—”
“How will I get very clean water? I’ll have to go all the way to Paris!”
“Oh right, uhh boil the well water and cool it and then boil it again and cool it!”
“That will take hours!” I exclaimed.
“We have hours,” She said. So I rushed to the plaza and when I got there I almost felt a bit faint from running so much, and then I realized–Henri! I ran through the plaza at the speed of light,
“Cette petite fille n’a pas de manières!” or “This little girl has no manners!” I didn’t even bother a “Pardon me,” at all.
“Premiers secours!” or “First aid!” that was it!
“Do you have any bandages?” I ask.
“Oui!”
I picked a very durable one because who knew what he would do with that!
“Mother! Mother! I am here!” I said as I nearly fell on the ground.
“Odette, sit down you look tired.” I was tired. Mother tenderly wrapped the bandage around the wound and squeezed it gently. She carried Henri down the hallway and into his nursery and came back around to help me. “Give your brother a kiss” so I gave him a peck on his tiny forehead.
“Sit in the chair for now, I will bring you water and a book to read for Henri” I was too exhausted to read but I still agreed. She came back and tilted the water into my mouth, drinking water never felt so good.
“il était une fois…..” I said trying to contain myself for Henri. Finally the book was done and I could get to my bed. Yay! I remember my mother pecked Henri goodnight and I did the same.
She helped to my room with soft gentle hands, like she had never done any work in her life. She tucked me in and told my father to come. I’m glad she did that, otherwise I would never see him 7 hours before–that’s a spoiler. In a happy sweet voice he said
“I love you, goodnight.” and pecked me on the forehead. Mother turned off the lights and walked out, out of my life forever.
The School
I woke up to a white room with people in white coats. They looked like doctors, but they weren’t. I heard a voice, “The test results have come back.” It was a completely different language then French but yet I could understand it. Then a tall woman with blonde hair leaned over me with a flashing purple light in her hands.
“What in the world?!” I thought to myself. “Where am I? Where are my parents? Where’s Henri? What is this light? What test is this?” A million questions went through my head and I felt overwhelmed.
“Well if she’s not a reader,” a man with a squared jaw said.
“And if she’s not a controller,” A woman with bright cornflower blue eyes stated.
“Well, she’s not a wiper.” I heard a loud voice boom.
They all chorused, “What is sh–”
“She’s an unknown.” a heart shaped face with the reddest hair came into view.
“What in the world is that?” the square jaw man said.
The redheaded woman said “She contains all.” and then I realized WAIT this was in my dream, I could control, read, and wipe minds! But if this was real how wouldn’t I have done this before?
“Wake her up” I saw a needle coming closer, and closer to my head. I felt an excruciating pain and I screamed louder than Henri. They then realized I was already awake and started to panic, but then another excruciating pain came and they calmed down. I sat up and felt my forehead, no blood, good.
“Bring in the translater.” the blonde woman said. A woman with brown hair and hazel eyes looked at me,
“Bonjour” she said in a sweet voice.
“B-b-bonjour” I said.
“We will put a chip in your mind to activate your powers.” “Nous allons mettre une puce dans votre esprit pour activer vos pouvoirs.”
“Quoi!” I said.
“Tout ira bien” or “Everything will be alright” “We will also put a chip in your mind so you can speak fluent English!” “Nous mettrons également une puce dans votre esprit afin que vous puissiez parler couramment l’anglais!” Then they pushed me back down into my bed as they placed an anesthesia mask on me.
“Take me back to my parents!” I shrieked. I started to see blurry green and pink and everyone was jiggling, and then black.
I woke up to the same “Doctors” smiling at me. I was about to say “Pourquoi suis-je ici?” but instead “Why am I here?” came out. “What am I speaking?!”
“English.” The redhead replied. “Oh and welcome to The School Of Psychological Power” she tilted my head and took off something from my scalp with a sharp tug, wires. I was horrified.
“Where are my parents? Where is my brother?”
“Back in France.” she replied, staring into my eyes.
“What do you mean ‘Back in France.’ where am I now?!”
“Russia.”
“Russia?!”
“Yes, Russia.”
“Will I ever see them again?”
“I can’t promise you. The world of the minds is a dangerous place, as well as it being messed up in general. I understand how you are feeling. I used to live in France and when I was 13, I was swept away here. I haven’t seen my family since.” I was heartbroken. What terrible things would happen to me? What terrible things would happen to my family? “Hold my hand.” she said and I took it. In a split second was in what looked to be a huge room, with high ceilings, and a symbol of a blue laser, curled into a swirl, and that swirl was in a hand on each wall. Next thing I knew, the redheaded woman was gone and I was in a blue cushioned chair.
A woman with chestnut hair and grayish blue eyes snapped her fingers and everyone’s eyes turned and their faces looked blank. She snapped them again and everyone looked like they weren’t dolls anymore. “Why didn’t that affect me?” I thought.
“As you know,” she boomed. “We are all gathered here for a special feast in honor of the new students who came.” she held out her hand and that same light I saw in the blonde woman’s hand shined, just this time it was red. “Now for a background of the students and an announcement of their minds will begin!”
“Sahana Varma, a girl from New Delhi, India. She is a reader.”
“George Smith, a boy from Los Angeles, California, USA” there were murmurs in the crowd. “He is a wiper.”
The list went on and on and my boredom went up and up but it lowered when I heard this
“Joseph Bourbeau, a boy from Cancale, Brittany, France” I thought to myself, “That’s near Quiberon!” “He is a controller.”
“Odette Prevatte, a girl from Quiberon, Brittany, France. She is a–Unknown” everyone turned to look at me. I felt their eyes go into my skin like the needles.
“Yeah that’s me…” I muttered.
I was led to my room, room 355. It was a small room with a bed and mattress. Just a bare room.
“Here are some sheets and pillows.” I heard the voice boom as sheets fell to my feet. “You will learn how to get anything you want and customize your room in class. Now get some rest!” I took the pillows and blanket, it felt weird not sleeping with my parents across the hallway. Right now there was a stranger in their place.
The Classroom
I woke up hoping it was all a dream but it wasn’t. I was in my bland room, with strangers neighboring me.
“Rise and shine!” the voice boomed. “If you didn’t know, my name is Sabrina Becker and I am the head of The School of Psychological Power, and I would like to welcome you all to your first day of classes for this trimester. Here are your schedules. Good luck, and good morning!” A large piece of paper fell on top of me as I flapped my arms around in an attempt to get the weight off of me. I discovered it was a poster that I was supposed to hang up right as another thing dropped with a thunk. I dragged myself out of bed to see what it was, nails. A hammer fell out of the sky inches away from my toes. I used it to hang up my schedule and examined it.
8:00 – 10:00: Controlling Minds
10:01 – 12:00: Reading Minds
12:01 – 1:00: Lunch
1:01 – 3:00: Wiping Minds
3:01 – 7:00: Study Hall
YOU MUST TURN IN YOUR WORK BY 7:00 PM!
I was given a clock as well. But it wasn’t a normal clock, it had a weird window like thing on it and each time a new hour began a big blue timestamp would appear in front of you. It was currently 7:30 AM so I had to get ready fast. I opened up a drawer expecting it to be empty but all of my dresses and skirts were there along with a uniform. It was a dull cornflower skirt that was way too short for any girl in France to be wearing in public. It was just below the knee! The top was white with balloon sleeves and a very comfortable collar, it was paired with a simple long sleeve dull blue top. The shoes were plain black shoes with tiny heels. As I tucked in my top I heard a knock on the door. “Come in,” I said.
“Hi,” a girl mumbled. I turned around to discover her curly golden brown hair was down to her waist and her hazel eyes were huge.
“Hi. I’m Odette Prevatte.” I said.
“I’m Hildegard Schmidt.” she said a bit louder. “Sorry I’m so shy, but did they do it to you? Did they abduct you from your own home and stick wires in your head and exclaim ‘You’re a controller!’ Did they teleport you to the giant room?” she gushed.
“Yes, yes, no, yes. They said to me ‘She is an Unknown’ apparently I can control read and wipe. But the weird thing is when Sabrina snapped her fingers in the grand hall, everyone’s heads turned except for mine.” I explained.
“That’s weird. I wonder if they have a library, maybe we can find something about it there.” she commented.
“I’m sure they do, this place is huge!” I exclaimed.
“My room is 368. See you at lunch!” she said and turned on her heel.
“Mine is 355!” but I realized she had already strolled to class.
Hildegard was one of my only friends at school. You’d think that I’d have many many friends because I would be so cool with my powers but no, everyone was afraid of me after the incident.
It was about time for me to go so I put my finger under 8:00 – 10:00: Controlling Minds in an attempt to read and in the blink of an eye I was in a classroom with a tall man who looked to be in his 40’s, I was the only one there.
“Oh! I forgot to tell you!” I heard Sabrina again. “To get to your classes you have to touch your schedules. Sorry about that.”
Suddenly everyone appeared out of nowhere. I looked to my right, a boy in dull green trousers and a collared shirt with a trenchcoat. To my left was Hildegard in a dull green skirt, the same tops as me (just green long sleeve) “Hi!” she mouthed. I was the only one there in blue.
“Welcome!” the tall man said. “I am Viktor Ivanov and I will be teaching you the arts of controlling. Call me Mr. Ivanov” He seemed nice! “Today I will be teaching you how to bring out your lights.” he held out a light. “Now this is what every class is doing today so it won’t be specific to you.” he said. “Any questions?”
A girl with deep chestnut hair in braids and a small heart face shot her hand in the air.
“Yes, you.” Mr. Ivanov said, almost annoyed.
“My name is Anastasia Evanoff and I was wondering Почему она в синем? Or for all of you amatures, Why is she wearing blue?”
“She is part of a different section of stu–”
“Well if she is,” Anastasia interrupted. “Then why is she in this class?”
“She has special needs an–” Mr. Ivanov started
“What type of special needs is that for her to be moving sections! Wh–” Anastasia boomed.
“Ms. Evanoff, she is an unknown!”
“And what is that made up section?” Anastasia taunted.
“I can control, read, and wipe.” I stood up. “I don’t know how to though.”
“I don’t know how to, though!” she imitated. “So what are you going to attempt to kill me or something?”
“Enough! Ms. Evanoff, back in your chair right now!” he held up his hand and she sat. He then flicked his hand and Anastasia was “mfhfmfhfmfj.”in a muffled voice.
“Now back to the lesson.” Mr. Ivanov said. “We first reach our hand in the direction of where we are getting this information. For example, Ms. Evanoff” he gave her a long stare. “Might have a passage in a book I would like to read in her light. I can reach and if she reaches back then I can get information from the book. Ah you in the blue, tell me your name and come to the front of the room.”
I stood up “I’m Odette Prevatte.” I mumbled.
“Ms Prevatte will be a different demonstration. She can reach towards me and get information from my light but I don’t need to reach back. Now, hold up your hand and think ‘light’ now lets see you do it.” So I held up my hand and thought “Light” and a rosey pink light popped into my hand. “Ah! Look!” Mr. Ivanov exclaimed. “Ms Prevatte’s light is rosey pink! Everyone will have a unique shade of a color that corresponds to you. Red is bold. Orange is irrational. Yellow is playful and childish. Green is smart and logical. Blue is calm and peaceful. Purple is brave and courageous. Pink is feminine. White is pure and innocent. Black is evil. Now reach towards my light and think about some information that I might have and tell it to the class.”
So I reached and thought about information about the Unknowns. I looked into my light, and it said he had escaped. What was that supposed to mean? “Uh, next class we are going to learn how to decorate our rooms.” I lied.
“Excellent Ms Prevatte!” He said as Hildegard stared at me, like she was scared of me.
The Night
I went to bed that night thinking about the information that I had gotten. Who has escaped? Where was he? Why was he there in the first place? And then I remembered the laughing creepy guy. I tried to reassure myself that it wasn’t him but I had a feeling in my throat that it was. I went across the hallway to Hildegard’s room. “Wake up!” I whisper-shouted.
“What, why, I don’t want to.” she mumbled in a tired voice.
“Well you have to,” I said as I dragged her out of bed. “Just go out in your pjs, no one will see you.”
She went along with it and walked out. “What’s so important for you to be waking me up at 2 am?” I lead her into a corner.
“I think my life,” I paused. “And your life is in serious danger.”
“By what?” she moaned.
“By this.” I activated my light. “He has escaped.”
“Odette, that could mean anything. There is like a 1 percent chance he is after you.” she exclaimed. I pressed a hand to her mouth.
“Shhhhh.” I said. “Just follow me to the library.” I turned this way and that. “Where is the library?”
“I don’t know!” she whispered. “Ooh! A map!” she turned to her right and pointed. “We go…” she paused as she read. “Downstairs and to our left, and then forward and then take a right and then forward and forward and take a left.”
“How am I supposed to remember that?!” I said.
“Don’t worry.” she paused and took something out from her pocket. “I have a cellphone.”
“What the heck is that?! It’s 1910, there is no such thing as a cellphone!” I exclaimed.
“I got it from a time traveling box I found in my dorm room. You should have one too!” she said as she showed me all of her apps. “So now I take a picture.”
“Wait but won’t you have to wait a few days to get it back.” I said.
“Nope! I just press this button and it is saved within seconds.”
I was mesmerized as I walked with Hildegard across the hallway with her phone. We got through the maze of school quickly. I made it to the library and we started to search the shelves. All of a sudden a heard Hildegard exclaim, “The Complete History Of Mind Types! That’s it!”
“Ok,” I walked over to the shelf. “Let’s open it up to….ah table of contents.”
“There is a section about Unknowns!” she turned to that page. “There have been 2 reported cases of unknowns, In 1890 Robert Miller attended the School Of Psychological Power but now he is in Iniquin Prison because of some specific actions he has done with his powers. They have taken away his chip.” she paused and stared at me for a very long time. “The second case was in 1910, when Odette Prevatte attended the School Of Psychological Power. She has so far done no harm and has been a very good student.” Hildegard stopped reading.
“That’s all the information I need from the book.” I said. “The rest of the information I will get from there.” I pointed across the hallway to Mrs. Becker’s office. “Remember, I can steal information from her light.”
“Well how do we do that without getting caught.” Hildegard asked.
“She is sleeping.” I said with a smile on my face.
“Odette! We are being bad students!” she exclaimed.
“Bad students that might be onto something,” I said as I grabbed her by her hair and led her to Mrs. Becker’s office.
“Don’t ever grab me by my hair again.” she hissed. I opened the door and found a sleeping Mrs. Becker with her hair in a very messy bun. I activated my rosey light and reached towards her. As I reached I thought, “Robert Miller” and a little zap of red light came into my rose one. I quickly went out of the room and read what I collected.
“Robert has escaped Iniquin Prison.” I paused and stared at Hildegard. Her eyes were even bigger than the original size. I broke the silence. “Let’s make our way back.” So we walked and walked, and then we noticed a dark figure with hair that looked more like a nest then hair.
“I want cake…” we heard a voice mumble and quickly realized it was Anesthesia!
“Sleepwalking and talking.” Hildegard reassured but we still walked extremely spy-like.
I went back into my room and fell asleep and I dreamed. Dreamed of how he escaped but that dream turned into a nightmare. A nightmare of what would happen after he escaped.
I woke up and discovered that it was 7:58 so I changed into my uniform and touched my schedule. I got to Controlling where everyone was lasering their eyes into me again, and then I realized my hair! So I ran to the teleportation wall and got back to my room and brushed my hair vigorously. I got back to the class just in time for the customizing lesson.
“Welcome class! Today is our lesson of customizing your rooms! Now this is another day where all classes are doing the same thing.” Great now I am doing the same thing all day again. “We will first use our lights and think about what we want to get. Yes, think!” I saw Anesthesia’s carrot orange light pop out of her hand.
“Ugh why can’t we pick our colors!? Mine is so ugly!” I heard Anesthesia shriek. Joseph’s light was sage green and Hildegard’s was porcelain white. My rose one came up. I don’t know what everyone else thought but I remember thinking about family portraits and to my surprise one my family dropped out of the sky and on to my desk.
“Ms. Prevatte will never fail to impress me! Look, a painting fell on her desk!” Mr. Ivanov exclaimed. Many kids looked at me in awe but Anesthesia looked at me in disgust.
“I can obviously do better.” she blurted out. I could tell she wanted to take it back right after. “See!” And a diamond necklace falls out of the sky.
“Wow Ms. Evanoff! Let me see if it is real to test your skills.” Mr. Ivanov said. held his emerald light over it. “Fake! Ms. Evanoff, I would like you to try again.” Anesthesia stormed back to her desk and held out her irrational orange light.
In each class we did the exact same thing. In the Readers class we learned with Ms. Williams. She had dark porcelain skin that she seemed to be very aware of. Her scarlet light shone at us well she taught. She was a very strict teacher but if you get on her good side she will be very nice to you. In wipers class we learned with Mrs. Suzuki. She had small eyes and light porcelain skin. Her cerulean light burned into our eyes as she taught.
When I got back to my room I decorated it. I first got a canopy bed which actually just replaced my old one. The canopy curtain was white silk. I then got my wallpaper, the same one we bought so long ago in France popped onto my walls. I was having so much fun with this I actually ignored the lights out call.
“Ms. Odette Prevatte, into bed.” The red head appeared behind me.
“Yes.” I mumbled. She disappeared so I changed and tucked myself in just to hop out again and admire my work. The walls were beautiful and my wardrobe was just like the wooden one in my own home. My floor was a royal blue carpet and I even gave myself a vanity. The last touch was the chandelier, I hung it up and admired it’s crystals. Finally I turned off the lights and dosed off.
The Man
I woke up to an unknown face. Brown hair, dark dark eyes, and very thin lips.
“Hello Odette.” he said with a smirk on his face.
“How d–” I started. Then he cupped his hand over my mouth and dragged me out of my bed. After a lot of dragging he threw me into his car and drove off.
“Oh you were wondering how I knew your name? I am Robert Miller.” Robert Miller. He was in prison and he escaped. I felt sick as millions of possible scenarios went through my mind. Maybe he was on my side! Maybe he might not be? I shuttered as I thought of these. “You probably are thinking these exact thoughts. Maybe he was on my side! Maybe he might not be? Or those are your exact thoughts because I am reading your mind.” he said.
“Well then where are you taking me?!” I squeaked.
“You’ll see.” he laughed. I then noticed that he sounded exactly like the laughing creepy guy in my dream. I knew something was wrong. He pulled up and stretched to the passenger seat to tape my mouth.
“Mmhfmfhf!” I protested. As he dragged me to a house that on the outside looked beautiful, like the Painted Ladies I heard about in San Francisco. But on the inside it looked more like a shack than a house. It was dark, cold, and the only source of light was a small candle in each room. He practically threw me into the most shack like room. When he turned to close the door, I tried to jump out of the window, only realizing that it was too high up for any human to survive. I felt like Sleeping Beauty. Locked up in a tower, sleeping (partially) but there was no prince charming to save me, and I obviously wasn’t a beauty at the time. My hair looked like a rats nest and I was in my nightgown.
“There is nobody to save you now!” the same laughter rose into the air. “Sit down in the chair, Odette.” he raised his hand and I fell into the chair and couldn’t get up. “You know what.” he said. “We need extra protection.” He made little quote symbols with his hand as he said ‘Protection’ he grabbed a rope.
My eyes widened as I shook my head no.
“No,” he cooed. “More like yes.” his pitch changed dramatically as he said yes. He tied me up with the same evil smirk. “Do you see what color my light is?” he held up a jet black light.
“Mmjhdjhkfhd!” I shrieked.
“Oh, Odette, you know this isn’t going to be like a fairy tale where the main character uses her powers to save the day! You don’t know your powers, but I know mine. Since I’m an Unkown I can control you and I will destroy this school for the whole world to see! And yes you might be thinking, ‘Robert, you don’t have your chip!’ but I do right here.” he took a small chip out his pocket. “Now all I need to do is place this in my mind and you and all of your little friends will be destroyed.” he chuckled. “Now shh, you don’t want to wake anyone. Just stay right there–oh wait you can’t do anything else because I am controlling you into not moving. Now you might be thinking, ‘Robert, how are you doing this when you don’t have your chip!’ That is because the one that I am holding is just a copy.” he taunted.
He held up the dark light and a device that had wires connected to it appeared. Connected to those wires was a light placer, which I didn’t learn about until later but they connect the power from your mind and light to the wires and the wires connect to the subject, which was me. He jammed the wires into my head without warning and my eyes watered in pain.
“Now Odette, close your eyes.” my eyes suddenly closed and I couldn’t open them. “And let the fun begin.” I was suddenly yanked this way and that in my chair and I realized he was putting leather along with the rope for ‘Extra Protection’ . He tilted my head and suddenly I felt nauseous and it felt like the needles were going into my head again. I tried to scream and kick but I couldn’t, I couldn’t do anything, there was no use. The laughter came again, this time it was even more nerve wracking than the last. All of a sudden the most excruciating pain came and all of my thoughts went blank. My eyes opened. He pulled the tape off of my mouth quickly, but I didn’t feel anything. I wasn’t aware of anything except for whatever Robert was saying.
“Hold up your hand.” and to my surprise my hand went up. He untied me and said, “Stand up and take my hand.” I took his icy hand and I was taken back to my dormitory. I felt like I was being possessed, I kinda was though. I went back to bed and dosed off within seconds.
The Attack
“Odette! It’s showtime.” It was Robert who was standing right in front of my bed. I stood up and followed him into the hallway. “You see, watch and learn, I am in disguise so nobody will suspect a thing.” I followed him down the hallway. “You can change quickly by using your light and commanding ‘change into uniform’.” I did exactly that and it worked! It was breakfast time and I was starving so I ate up, and listened to Roberts commands. “Now Odette, your first culprit is Sahana, control her NOW!” he shrieked so I did exactly that. Several kids noticed and freaked out. Mrs. Becker stared at me and spoke into her loud speaker,
“ATTENTION STUDENTS WE ARE GO–” Robert walked towards her.
“Remember me, Sabrina.” He took off his wig and said, “Of course you do, I was the only student in class who had a black light.”
Mrs. Becker took the loud speaker and started running.
“Go after her!” Robert shouted. So me and Sahana ran, as I controlled people into my controlled “Zombie” army.
“GET INTO YOUR DORMITORIES RIGHT NOW! OUR SCHOOL IS IN SERIOUS DANGER!” teenagers from every corner ran and started screaming. I ran and along the way I saw Hildegard, who of course was a culprit.
“Odette! What are you doing!?” she shrieked.
“I don’t know but it feels great!” I revealed as I pulled her long curly hair and held up my light. BOOM! I ruined Hildegard. Me and my zombies ran towards every room pulling people into the crowd and pinning them down so I could ruin them. I stopped at Joseph, everyone else came to a halt.
“Odette! What about your parents, what would they think about you!? I know this is not your normal self but you can’t do this you can’t–” George pulled him in. BOOM! Joseph ruined. We all came to a halt.
“My plan has worked! I will destroy Sabrina once and for all! Go and storm her office!” We all ran to the door but I paused at the door and felt myself collapse. As Hildegard told me, “Everyone was scared and ran away from you, except for me. I stayed and checked your pulse, you were alive. Robert just stood there in shock. Mrs. Becker came out and was very relieved and then she had a staring contest with Robert and then they took you to the nursing wing and yeah.”
I remember waking up with Hildegard staring at my face, as she screamed
“Mrs. Becker! She is awake!” and then a Mrs. Becker screaming,
“Nurse. Oliveira!” I was slapped in the face by the cool wind as Nurse. Oliveira opened up the window and spooned me medicine, I looked to my right and saw Robert lying on a bed.
“Why is Robert here?” I asked.
“We did the chip taking out procedure in the ‘White Room’ and he is now resting, we wiped his memory of everything once his chip was taken out as well so he will not be able to hurt you and he has no memory of the world of the mind.” the nurse replied. I smiled, I was safe and nobody could hurt me, there was only one thing missing to my happily ever after, my parents. My dear parents.
So I wound up here in America to explore the rest of the world, but I always visit Russia to bring back my childhood, and France as well! But I have never found my parents anywhere. I miss them very much.”
I stop my story, “You must not tell this to anyone,” I say. The child slowly nods and runs off and I walk up into the bushes of the park and take out the same rosey light and blink myself to Russia.
