2018-2019 season, Miami Dolphins trailing 28-33 against the New England Patriots, with no time left, the Dolphins quarterback, Ryan Tannehill threw a short pass to the wide receiver, who had nowhere to go. He passed to DeVante Parker, another wide receiver who ran up until he couldn’t anymore, surrounded, and desperate, he threw it up. It was caught by Kenyan Drake, a running back, who ran it all the way ran for a touchdown. The Dolphins won the game. It was insane. People talked about it for weeks, Dolphins, and Patriots fans alike. Things like this make football thrilling.
It’s exciting when a team you’re rooting for wins. Whenever I watch, I can’t tell who’s going to win the game, unless it’s near the end and one team is up by a lot, so when a team I’m rooting for wins, I’m usually surprised and excited. When a team wins, it’s most breathtaking when the game was very important, for example, the game that game decides who goes to the superbowl, or the superbowl. That’s why I love watching football, because of the excitement. My favorite team, is actually a college team, the Georgia Bulldogs, my Dad grew up near their stadium, they’re very good, and the often make an appearance in the regional championship, and even sometimes, the national championship.
It’s exciting when any team scores. In football, there’s not a score every 30 seconds, like in basketball, or volleyball, so even if the team you’re not rooting for scores, it’s still sensational. A touchdown scores 6-8 points, (usually 7), so that makes a big difference. Sometimes a player goes off and gets passed every defending player, and that’s when it’s most rousing. Some may argue that it’s boring, and, nothing ever happens, and which is in a sense, true because a team rarely scores, but in a way that makes it less boring when one does, and if you look closely and understand what’s happening, it will seem more
A game can turn around easily and it’s electrifying. It can be little things that can turn a game around. For example, a quarterback losing yards, or a pass getting intercepted. Neither of those things are extremely uncommon, yet they can change the game from not even close, to a game that must be watched to the end. Sometimes when everyone’s throwing away their popcorn boxes, zipping up their coats and getting ready to go, out of nowhere, a miracleT occurs, and suddenly they can’t take their eyes of the field.
Next time you flip on the tv, and don’t know what to watch, try out football. You may like it. A few years ago, I would have never have wanted to watch football, or any sport. Now I am writing this essay. With a perspective I’m Taemoh.
