Kate and Her Dad

Kate and her dad walked down 5th Ave on there way to Kates swimming class. The towering buildings looked to Kate like they were going to fall on her. Suddenly Kate stoped in her tracks…

“Look,” she said pointing to a shop right across the street.

In the display case there was a dress. The most beautiful dress in the world  better than any other dress she had!

“What,” said her dad.

“That dress. Can I have a look at it,” she said hopefully.

Ever since she was little she wore dresses everyday but now she had started to fade of a little. She still wore them a bit but she new her parents had noticed a change. When Kate and her dad stoped at the display case the dress seemed even more beautiful.

“Come on lets go were going to be late to your swimming lesson,” said her dad.

But Kate wasn’t listening. She was imagining the dress like the dress she had seen over vacation that she had really wanted but couldn’t get but this was even better this dress was the best dress in the world. She felt sparks flow through her when she saw the dress sparkle.

“I just have to have that dress,”she said anxiously.

“I’m not sure that looks pretty expensive,”he said worried.

“But we will talk to your mother,” he said at the look on Kate’s face.

She probably should be excited but she’s not because she new what dad just said was a no because he said it looked to expensive and she new mom would say no because she always said no about those things.

“ Well okay but I have to get that dress,” Kate said.                                                    After Kate’s swimming class she started walking away from the swimming pool slowly keeping her head down. She smelled the corline coming up from the pool but this time it felt like a sad smell not a beautiful happy smell. Kate suddenly felt sad and disappointed. It felt like her parents we’re turning on her and would never say yes.

“ What is it,” said her dad looking at her.

“ What do you mean,” said Kate inasently.

“ I mean your walking with your head down and have a sad expression on your face,” he said.

“ Oh I do I didn’t know that,”Kate said again inasently.

It took about fifteen minutes to get back home when Kate walked through the door she said…

“ Mom can I please get the dress in the window,” Kate said hopefully.

“ How much is it,” she asked.

“ 50 dollars,” Kate said.

I remembered back to when I had seen the dress sparkle that felt like so long ago. I had been so happy then but now I felt so sad.

“ 50 dollars I don’t think so. That’s so much for just a kids dress your dad should of told you that when you saw it,” her mom said loudly.

She felt like storms were bielding up in her. She kicked the wall and sreamed I hate you loud enough for the hole street to hear. She stomped up the stairs stomp stomp stomp went the sound of her feet on there staircase to the upstairs. Once she reset she went back down stairs and said.

“ Please mom its only fifty dollars,” she said disappointed.

“ Fifty dollars is a lot of money. You have plenty of dresses you don’t need another one,” said her mom.

“Uh,” she said really mad.

That night she went to bed early. She tried not to make tears run down her like snakes running down the long dessert. Then she thought of a idea that is it she thought. All I have to do is where all the dresses I have. Then my mom will see that I will use that dress.

“ Let’s get this plan on the road,” I whispered to myself.

I felt like balloons were floating in me like winning a first prize medal in the Olympics. The next morning I jumped out of bed, ran to my closet and yanked out my first dress! When I got  downstairs I said, “ Hi mom,” I say trying to stay calm but a little excited!

“ Hi,” says my mom back without seeming to notice anything. It felt like I heard the word fail in my head. I felt a mixture of anoyince and anger wy didn’t she notice anything.

The next and the next day I kept trying to get mom and dads attention but nothing seemed to work.

“Ugh,” I say in bed.

Why is nothing seeming to work for me I thought to myself. I felt sparks of anger fly through me now I was mad at my parents now I felt like I wanted to teach my parents a lesson. The next morning Kate got up early. She packed a few snacks and biked to her friends house. She and her friend played a little while all of a sudden… Her friend’s mom caught them and she called Kate’s mom and Kate had to go home.

“ Now I’m in trouble mom and dad are going to be furious,” Kate said to herself on the bike ride home from her friend’s house.

When Kate got home her parents were sitting on the couch waiting for her. Everyone was silent for a second.

“ I’m sorry that I went to my friends house without your permission,” said Kate.

“ Thanks for saying sorry but were going to have to ground you,” said her mom.

“ Noooooooooooooooooooooooo,” screamed Kate over disappointed.

“ Wy is nothing going my way,” she shouted.

She ran upstairs now what am I going to do she thought . This is terrible now that I’m grounded my mom is definitely not going to get that dress for me. She felt her lip curl into a big frown just like a rainbow except this was a sad rainbow a rainbow she thoutht could never be fixed. Then it came to her.

“ That’s it,” she said excitedly.

“ I can start a bank account,” she said.

She jumped downstairs.

“ Can I start a bank account to save up to the dress I want,” she asked anxiously.

“ I think we mite be able to do that,” said her mom.

“ I think that’s a good idea,” said her dad.

“ Than it’s decided I can start a bank account,” said Kate

After a long month of waiting she finally had enough money to buy the dress.

“ I have enough money to start a bank account! Can I go to the store right now,” she said excitedly. She waited anxiously waiting for her ears to hear the word yes. All of a sudden her ears heard the word yes. She jumped up in the air in excitement. Suddenly she felt a whoosh of different feelings. A mix of happy and excitement and it also felt like she had a weight lift of her shoulders.

Her mom toke her to the store and she bought the dress.

“Yay,” she said at home.

I’n her room she felt bubbles exsplode inside her dress and she wore it almost every day!
