I am from the mix of cookie and
Brownie, the blondie.
The crisp, slightly smushy top
That breaks as I hold it
And implodes as
It nears my mouth,
And when biting down,
feeling the gooey mixture of chocolate
And blondie on my tongue.
This is where I’m from
I am from dinners, my mom
making a recipe she hasn’t made weekly,
a new taste always Much
like another, the new food
I know I haven’t eaten
Swallowed as something
I eat every week.
This is where I’m from
I am from the downstairs,
Entering through the bright orange Door,
seeing the sign saying not to eat food Down here,
the time playing Battle Front
On The beanbag that seems to be slowly eating me
The soft exterior that I lower into,
Eventually resting in a comfortable position that
Is almost the same as if I were sitting in
The soft chair that may have the power
To fully consume me.
This is where I’m from
I am from changing habits
To reduce waste, not buying
LaCroix Spindrift, using bottles
to buy olive oil in bulk. Picking
up trash on the street and
Going to beach cleanups.
Feeling that accomplished feeling
When you help save
The earth
This is where I’m from
I am from playing mtg online,
Going to online school and eating large
Quantities of sourdough. I am from the Zoom
Meeting with family and the online dinner
parties with friends.
Where I’m from is where I am.
